Again, an Exhibition Opinion, being born in Houston, but I didnt want Archie's kids playing in New Orleans, because the expectation would have been so high, the first time Peyton threw an interception / lost a game, and the crowd turns on him--- that would have been heartbreaking. I remember Bobby Hebert, a Bayou kid himself, having a tough day, getting heckled by people who should have been his biggest fans. I would have gone to the Falcons and then did "airplane arms" too, after what he must have heard from the stands. It sounded like a dream deal, Peyton to the Saints, but I just think the expectation would have led to needless stress. |

Re: Does La. really like the Mannings?
The fact that they grew up in LA and never really considered LSU rubs me the wrong way. I do hate Ole Miss... And I have no idea how Peyton wound up at Tennessee. I find all three of the Manning QB's to be a group of stiffs. They lack personality, but are constantly on tv trying to manufacture some sort of image of being "humorous". And I agree with Black that Peyton and Eli tend to throw tantrums... Also, Eli sounds like a 5 year old.
Other than that, I'm a huge fan. |

Peyton ended up at Tennesee because OleMiss was under NCAA sanctions and Billy Brewer has just been fired. So Peyton couldn't go to Ole Miss and couldn't go to LSU, so Tennesee was where he ended up. Cutcliffe was Peyton's offensive coordinator so when he became the head coach at Ole Miss, this made it a lot more attractive to Eli so he followed in his father's footsteps and there at Ole Miss, Eli was king. So now I hope y'all understand why no one in the Manning family went to or played for LSU and why none of their future offspring ever will. |

Thats what all the BS with the 2 Mannings is about in the NFL, Neither of them wants to be in the same conference competing against one another. Its why Eli said he wouldnt sign for the Chargers. I would of thought they would avoid playing in the SEC unless it was for Ole Miss, to see Payton go to Tenn........now that was interesting altogether. |

Re: Does La. really like the Mannings?
A lot of drunk callers into Buddy D wanted it...let's put it that way. Peyton I know was during the Ditka era so stuff was all messed up, as far as what the team needed and what Ditka wanted and all that.

Re: Does La. really like the Mannings?
I'm not a Manning fan at all. I have no loyalties to any of them. I wasn't a Saints fan when Archie played. I had no problem with Peyton until he walked off the field after the Super Bowl without acknowledging not even one Saints player to congratulate them. I thought it was poor taste from someone of his caliber. Some will defend him and say he's a competitor, he was upset, yadda, yadda. In my opinion, it was pretty unsportsmanlike. I haven't liked Archie or Eli since Eli was drafted. I won't elaborate anymore on that, because I've voiced my disdain over that situation a few times before a long time ago. My dislike of the Mannings doesn't really have anything to do with where they attended college.

taken to kindly by anyone, fans, anyone, even though the Colts were a terrible organization.... People thought Elway had no right to refuse the draft, and that he was a "brat." He was brutally knocked in games the first season, and everyone seem to applaud the beatings. People for some reason didnt like Elway's teeth, thought he was smiling, or taunting opponents or something.... If you look closer, most of the time, it was actually a grimace--- he was straining, or tightly focusing. The first time I heard he refused the Colts draft, and would go to Baseball instead, I admit, I didnt like him. Now, I think he's a good guy. Very happy he won SB rings. |
