Does La. really like the Mannings?
I have been sitting here this morning reminiscing...thinking about Ole Miss and the Archie days...and I started wondering about something.
Pre Drew Brees, Archie was Mr. Saint. He no longer holds that title. I have no animosity, as I am sure Archie does not either, because it is just the way the world turns. Things have a tendacy to change...but none of this is my point...just ramblin'. Anyway, I remember the days before Archie was a Saint, and people in La. did not take too kindly to the kid. He had sort of a reputation for being a thorn in a certain Tiger's paw. Then he was drafted by the Saints...an organization that has a high percentage of LSU fans as their own fans. Something wasn't right about that picture. Archie did win over a lot of the people of La...about as much as possible, I suppose. Then, Archie went on to being a father of 2 very talented QB's. Neither, however, were ever considered as a QB for the Saints. I could be wrong, but most fans that I speak to that are from NO absolutely despise Eli. So...my question is this. Why? ...or...Am I wrong?? Is it an Ole Miss/LSU thing??? Just wonderin'... Note...To mods...if this is in the wrong place...please move it. Thx. |

As far as for Archie... I am indifferent..
As far as for his whiny, tantrum throwing offspring. I could really care less about ever seeing or hearing of them again. |

Re: Does La. really like the Mannings?
The fact that they grew up in LA and never really considered LSU rubs me the wrong way. I do hate Ole Miss... And I have no idea how Peyton wound up at Tennessee. I find all three of the Manning QB's to be a group of stiffs. They lack personality, but are constantly on tv trying to manufacture some sort of image of being "humorous". And I agree with Black that Peyton and Eli tend to throw tantrums... Also, Eli sounds like a 5 year old.
Other than that, I'm a huge fan. |

Oh...btw. SD stands for San Diego...the place Eli did not want to go. |

LB, I'm a Texan, so this post doesnt really count. This is an Exhibition Opinion.
Archie was the face of the Saints, and put the franchise on the map. There should be a statue of Archie outside the Superdome. There should have been a float in the Super Bowl Parade for the Mannings, even though Peyton was our opponent. Once XLIV was over, I was, again, a fan of Peyton Manning. Im also happy for Eli Manning and his well deserved Super Bowl Rings. I hope people remember Cooper's exploits on the field, before he was forced to retire early. I hope he is successful now. And Olivia Manning has a graceful elegance befitting a First Lady. Archie used to be the color commentator for Saints Radio, as his popularity was huge for years after he was traded to the Oilers. Also I remember a fan party -- the "Official Who Dat Fan Club-- who's president was Pete Fountain -- a fan party in the Hilton, Riverside--- huge ballroom, Benson was there shaking hands, so were the Saintsations. Well Archie showed up to speak, and in 1988, fans still chanted "Archie! Archie! Archie! The Mannings are a family of winners, and they represent the Gulf South well, starting with Archie. I would like to see Archie get the love and respect he deserves. |

I'm not from Louisiana but I love Peyton Manning, i mean he threw the game winning touchdown when the Saints won the superbowl.
