What I hope Vitt brings that Kromer lacks, is passion on the sideline. Yelling at refs, players, coaches. Kromer shows about as much emotion as Keanu Reeves. Through the first 4 weeks that was the one thing I noticed was different on the sideline and it affected our play.

I think Vitt will add some support and stabilize the team a bit. Whatever happens one thing I'm sure of this is gonna be long season.

Re: Will the return of Joe Vitt bring energy back to the New Orleans Saints?
I have been riding the Joe Vitt Train since it was first announced. Heck, I'm in the cab shoveling coal into the furnace, right now, because it's practically the only shot we have left. To me, the real season starts on the field in Denver.

Joe Vitt is ASSISTANT HEAD COACH, not just the linebackers coach. That means he has seniority over anyone else in the organization besides Payton...seniority means if he says "jump," they ALL say "how high?"...if he chews out Spags or Carmichael, or Kromer, a player, or anybody else, they HAVE to listen to him. If Kromer chews out Spags about a mistake on D, what do you think happens? Vitt has been here since day one of Payton, and knows more of the "What would Sean Payton do?" answers than anyone else in the organization. And he has had a lot more to do with what goes on behind the scenes, with getting the team ready for games, than many people realize. To me this first part of the season was all just some bizarre extended preseason, that unfortunately counts. |

Re: Will the return of Joe Vitt bring energy back to the New Orleans Saints?
Put it this way...If Vitt wasn't a vital part of this team...he wouldn't have been suspended for 6 games. Goodell took away the LEADERS of the team. Vitt has been here since SP. SP trusts him with EVERYTHING. He knows every in and out of this organization. Believe me if Goodell didn't think Vitt would make a difference helping these guys win...he wouldn't be sitting home right now waiting to be reinstated for the Denver game.
It is going to make a difference. He will have control. Kromer does not command respect or dispaly the leadership that SP or Vitt because he's just a OLine coach...everyone he's trying to lead has seniority over him...thats difficult to control. No on but SP has seniority over Vitt and everyone in that facitlity knows it. And there will be accountability. |

Re: Will the return of Joe Vitt bring energy back to the New Orleans Saints?
Ill try to over simplify Joe Vitts role when he returns. For the sake of this argument "x" is what ever job you want it to be.
I run into this a lot in corporate America. Someone has done x for so long, at such a high level, that upper management automatically assumes he can manage people doing x. You need the guy gifted at doing x to do x and the guy that is gifted at managing to manage the guys doing x. Kromer or Carmichael being gifted at doing x does not make them managers of people... as we have seen. They lack the leadership, motivational skill sets, and team building skill sets required to pull this all together. Vitt is the guy that is experienced (well more than the rest of the crew) in managing the niche talents that is our coaching staff.. Will he have Sean Payton's panache or level of skill.. No, if Vitt did he would be a HC somewhere else, but he is familiar and has done it before. Vitt will be the glue that pulls it all together. Vitt is a very direct and very dry personality, that transparency builds trust. Example of how greatness at x does not make you a leader and manager of men: Mike Singletary knows the game but not how to manage the players... thus his failure at Head Coach. |

Re: Will the return of Joe Vitt bring energy back to the New Orleans Saints?
I'm hoping he starts a "Vitt Pit" so any player that completely freaks up their assignment must face a wild mob of Philly fans while in a caged pit. Some say it's inhumane. I say it's just motivation.
No, but on a serious note, I think he will add stability which is definitely needed. |

I think he will add energy which is what we need most. We have 11 more games and we can still lose 3 and shoot for a wild card. We beat Tampa and stay healthy and it's on.

Vitt doesn't want the responsibilities of being a head coach. I can see the stress in his eyes even though he plays it cool.
Vitt is capable of being a head coach and that is what we need right now. |

He's also the one who fires disgruntled ex-employees, who then can make a bunch of **** up, and threaten to blackmail the team for $2 Million dollars, so what's your point Mike. The Geoff Santini Vicodin crap got thrown out of court, my friend. In case you were not aware. Thrown. Out. Of. Court.

Does trolling give you a boner or something?
We've had a couple of you guys come through lately- it's weird, your team finally doesn't look like a total piece of **** and you feel like you deserve to go and rag on somebody elses that's down (for now). Savor the flavor sir because you know as well as I do that when Payton gets back the ass whippings will continue as before. Oh yeah, 2 POINTS. FALCONS SUCK, GO SAINTS We're in your head |
