Vilma to make his debut against Bucs

Saints LB Jonathan Vilma (knee surgery) expects to come off the PUP list
Tuesday and make his 2012 debut Sunday against the Bucs.

You may recall Vilma's year-long suspension was recently upheld by Commissioner Roger Goodell, but Vilma has filed yet another appeal, and it appears he'll be able to play through it. Vilma had a sub-par 2011, but his return should boost the Saints' No. 31 run defense. With Curtis Lofton entrenched at middle linebacker, it's unclear where Vilma may play.

Thats probably the right combo. Vilma would get neutralized at SLB. He's a much better fit at WLB where he can free-lance more and doesn't have to engage a TE/OT combo as often. He's a better in space than fighting off blocks.

He might just be one badass WLB.

Vilma maybe a step slower but he knows this D and it personnel and could put them position. Vilma is in that group which is only a handful that can match wits with a QB. I have not been that overly impressed with Lofton, yes he’s made/making tackles but he’s no Vilma. We know Vilma legs aren’t under him yet but it will; I’d like to see both on the field and even though Vilma wouldn’t mind sliding to the outside but healthy he needs to stay in the middle with Lofton on strong side and Casillas on the other side – SHANLE HAS TO GO

He knows 3/4 of the personnel and has yet to play a snap under Spags defense.

If Williams were here, yes.. Now.. no.

Vilma might be a fair Will, I wouldn't put him in the middle, to much ground to cover, he's past his prime.

No spags already stated that Lofton is staying @ Mike and that they'll find a spot for him more than likely if Hawthorne is still injured and Vilma can go 100% he'll play his spot
