Question Bucs notes: Crucial call keeps Saints' TD drive alive

I haven't heard anything about this.

With the Saints ahead 28-21 early in the quarter, New Orleans lined up for a 50-yard field goal attempt. Tampa Bay's line suddenly shifted en masse and the Bucs were hit with a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty after the snap, giving the Saints a first down at the Bucs 18-yard line.

Don't pull college gimmicks in a PRO game. As one announcer said this isn't Rutgers. It cheapens the game. If you want to do that go back to college because the refs will not tolerate it.

Re: Bucs notes: Crucial call keeps Saints' TD drive alive

It was actually really funny...About 20 minutes after the game was over, they asked Mike Perrera about it, on the Fox post-game show, asked him about that call, and he sorta rolled his eyes and made this FACE, a total smirk, and he was like, "well, you can maybe get away with that kind of thing at Rutgers, but not in the pro's." He basically crapped all over that formation and the whole jumpy/shift thing, and Perrerra basically dissed Schiano for trying it. But the look on his face was awesome.

Now I kinda have this theory that, in the unspoken reading between the lines, or the vibe type of thing, the "game within the game" and all that....I think that the refs are kinda starting to look down on Greg Schiano and all this bag of "college tricks" crap he's been doing. The whole thing with the taking the knee thing, and now this... I think it's quite possible that as the season wears on, Schiano is going to discover that if he keeps on doing that type of stuff, he will NOT be getting the calls from the refs when he needs them. I mean, we've all seen it -- once you get on the refs' bad side as a coach, once they make up their mind about you, then when you go to plead your case on a bad call it's "talk to the hand." Now that they've identified him as a PITA, I don't think the refs are going to be very "generous" with Schiano about anything.

Greg Schiano gets on my nerves. Entering field of play often. Talking at the refs most times. During timeouts, pointing out stuff to the refs. At the end of the 2nd Qr, giving the refs another load of stuff.

Thank goodness, the refs went about their business.

The refs made the right call on that one, but they definitely made their share of bad calls in the game... although they probably evened out in the end between the two teams.

Yeah, I can't understand how after a review they couldn't overturn that bad call on Harper's interception, when it seemed a pretty airtight call from the replays FOX was providing.

Also, that first illegal contact call, or whatever it was, that was called against Harper - or Elbert Mack #44 - on Dallas Clarke was a ridiculous call to make... which kept the Bucs' drive going in the 4th.
