this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I see Ingram's main role as giving P.T. a break so he doesn't wear down throughout the year or get injured, that's about it....

Re: Ingram, what's wrong.
What I question is given the way the Saints use the run, why did they give up a 1st round pick on Ingram. To me, that makes no sense.[/QUOTE]
Because at the time we did not have a healthy running back. We had to do it and it was a good pick, we just don't use him enough. |

Re: Ingram, what's wrong.
I agree, but i cant seem to think that is why they drafted him. He is an overpriced fill in. Ivory and cadet could do the same thing for 1/10th the money. again, i wish they would showcase him, let him blow up, and get a D lineman or safety or cb, or lb out of the deal. truthfully at this point if they got a 2nd rounder for him that would be a great deal. we do better with NON first round picks anyway

Re: Ingram, what's wrong.
I dunno about "overpriced," Ingram is actually earning below average salary for an NFL running back, and Ingram's WHOLE FOUR YEAR CONTRACT with the Saints is worth less than what many starting RB's are getting just THIS YEAR alone. Ivory is $540,000 and Ingram is $712,125, Cadet is $390,000.... That's not "1/10th of the money." All three of those guys COMBINED are still less than either Pierre or Sproles... I'm among the first to say he's not producing or is not delivering what I expected from him or whatever, but overpriced is just not really part of it with Ingram.

"The only thing keeping Mark Ingram from being rookie of the year is me." - Sean Payton
I think Mark would benefit greatly if Payton was calling the plays |

Re: Ingram, what's wrong.
I have a feeling with Morgan being out this week and it's snowing in Denver that Ivory will be activated. We will need to run the ball and with the elevation issues an extra RB can be a help.
