Vitt wasn't going to be the answer
I read post after post how Vitt's return was going to motivate the team all the way to the Superbowl.
And I would always say I felt he was no different or better than Kromer. I personally believe shoving Kromer aside to shove Vitt in as Coach after Kromer was with the team for 6 weeks was a mistake. What a way to break up the little bit of chemistry the team developed over the prior 6 weeks. Vitt was in command last night and the team looked lethargic and identical to some of the preseason games when they were lifeless with Vitt as head coach. Vitt didn't exactly do a great job as head coach last season when Sean Payton got hurt. The Tampa Bay game was full of stupid clock management. Don't even get me started on the Rams game. Just remember, there was a rush to bring Sean Payton back ASAP. Kromer grew up with the team in his 6 weeks and the past 2 weeks the team was animated and played with SOME heart. Last night was a joke. Not knocking Vitt, but to everyone who thinks he is some kind of savior, you were wrong. Now that Vitt is the head coach, it may take another few weeks for the team to come back to life, but it's too late to switch back to Kromer. Entire situation is a HOT ridiculous mess. But seriously, I have no idea what the linebackers coach (Vitt) was going to do different than the o-line coach (Kromer) at the helm. Being a head coach is a lot more than just funny press conferences and tough talk (just ask Jet fans and they'll tell you why Rex Ryan stinks). It sucks because Kromer was just coming into his own ONLY to be interrupted by Vitt. |

But taking Kromer out on a 2 game win streak was dumb. They were just starting to play normal ball - Kromer found an angle. This is not like swapping a hard drive out on a computer or swapping a motor out on a car. Coaching is 1000000 times more complicated. |

Re: Vitt wasn't going to be the answer
I hear ya. I guess my roundabout point was, he is hardly a good coach and he has been out for 6 weeks of football. Then he comes in and is calling the plays?? I don't expect you to agree with my feelings on Vitt but IMO he has done nothing and its blown up 10 fold this year because Payton is not here.
I agree totally about Kromer. As crappy as we started out, we could see some progress and each game got a little better. Mr. big bad bossman comes back and he just starts taking over sh!t and our team played worse than it had all season. Coincidence? |

I didn't think he would be the answer to begin with. Need Payton back.

Re: Vitt wasn't going to be the answer
There has been only one constant between our two coaches: the sorry-ass players on the field. We're plagued by bad play, simple as that.
This defense needs to be blown-up with an atom bomb. No offense can survive the worse defense in league history. |

Makes sense, in hockey you ride a hot-goalie until he burns out, why wouldn't you stick with a coach that's winning?
I thought maybe the return of Vitt would continue the momentum gained under Kromer, but I guess having to adjust to yet another coaching change was a little too much for the team ... <sigh> ... <whew>. |
