Rewatched the game vs falcons
Just rewatched every play from the falcons game on NFL game pass and just thought I'd share what I saw
At the start of the game, we won on 1st and 2nd down. Our O line was getting to the second level and mark Ingram was being very decisive, he was hitting the hole and getting what the defense have him, his first 4 runs went - 5 yards, 8 yards, 5 yards, 7 yards Maybe Ingram is finally getting used to the system, Our O line had to improve, that couple with vitt wanting to establish the run and that's why Ingram is bring successful at the moment Devery Henderson had a terrible game - he had a huge block on Abraham on Ivorys run, other than that he played terrible - drew kinda overthrew him on the long pass, but you put lance Moore or colston in that position and they make the catch 3rd and 2 with 12 minutes left in 4 quarter, dropped an easy pass and the corner was nowhere near him, he catches that and we could eat some more clock Patrick robinson was not heard from all day - and that's a good thing because it means he wasn't getting beat, he was against Julio for most of the day and didn't get beat until Julio pushed off and gained 5 yards for a first down Greer got beat twice for 49 yards and 55 yards, ouch Our D line is playing nasty right now, you all know I think Cameron Jordan is our best player on D, he is becoming a leader for us, he leads by example, the falcons double teamed him all day, and he still made a huge impact Pressure was hit and miss, but we are still getting more pressure with just 4 men than we used to Our safeties were playing very soft zone on Roddy and jones, that's why you saw a lot of 15 yard gains, Malcolm and Harper didn't want to get beat deep, they gave too much cushion at times but I'd rather that happen than get burnt Our D turns schizo in the redzone, people say it was because we played the eagles we did so well? Not so fast, we held the bucs on 4 downs, we held the eagles to no points for 3 straight redzone drives, and we held the falcons to 3 points on the final 3 redzone drives, that's pretty good if you ask me Please feel free to post anything you noticed |

Re: Rewatched the game vs falcons
I noticed a WIN!!! Good breakdown of the game! And yes I think our defense has turned a very important corner edging toward halfway through the season. Notta full 180 but that may happen by week 13 or 15 but we still need to rely upon the offense as of right now. But I can finally breath a little easier now when our defense takes the field! And I say that with confidence.

Re: Rewatched the game vs falcons
Aside from everything you mentioned, dizz (espeically about Cam Jordan's game and our red zone defense, which has been in the beast-mode zone lately), one thing I've noticed in the last couple of games is the vast improvement of the Saints run-blocking. They are finally giving our RB's some holes to run through and enough push on the opposing line and LB's for our horses to get to the outside, as well. The Saints aren't as predictable with Ingram and Ivory in the game, because I saw a few plays where they ran play-action when they were on the field.
Another thing that I've noticed is that it seems like Ivory has lit a fire under Ingram. Ingram is getting more carries, but he knows that Ivory is breathing down his neck if he doesn't produce. So far, he's been up to the challenge the last couple of weeks. With tanks like Ivory and Ingram grinding out yards and exhausting the opposition's defense, that really opens up the play-action pass for Brees and keeps a lot of the pressure off of him to carry the team on his shoulders. As long as they remain successful running the ball, this offense should be hard to keep off the field. mighty 12, was also right. They were playing with passion, and also with intensity. I know they were probably hyped up for a rivalry game, but regardless of what it was, they came to play and play hard. I'm hopeful that they can keep up this intensity the rest of the season. If they do, they could possibly run the table. They just have to keep their heads up and remain focused from week-to-week and not look ahead. After our chances looked to bleak, I'm getting excited about this season all over again. |

The defense is getting better. I'm at the point where I don't not like them...
if that makes sense? |

Re: Rewatched the game vs falcons
At least we are seeing improvement from the D now, and we've said all season we could live with that. Hopefully the trend continues.

Re: Rewatched the game vs falcons
I think the main reason Ingram is starting to look good is because he is actually being used properly. Ingram is an every down type of back, finally more opportunity for him instead of only 3rd and 1's.
The Saints defense is starting to show some good signs, can't really complain about their red zone defense right now. I was also encouraged by their run defense. Still giving up way too many overall yards, which is part of the issue with their time of possession numbers, which are still way too heavy going the other way. On a final note, yes, Cam Jordan is developing into a very nice player. |
