Re: 5 and 5
If you continue to focus on how many yards they give up, you will drive yourself crazy. Try this instead. The number of points given up in games which in the beginning what 28 + pts a clip over the first four. Has gone down in every game except for the Denver game, and now is down to 17 pts...... Do you really think you can beat this offense down the stretch if all the d gives up is 17 pts per game.

Re: 5 and 5
Yards are meaningless if points don't back it up.
Defense is playing faster, tackling better and making some key short yardage stops. Offense is as per usual. On another note....Matt Ryan elite.....ahahahahahahahahha |

Re: 5 and 5
Defense did a good job again today. Considering how many players we have injured, I'd have to say they really stepped up. I'm really concerned about Charles Brown. It seemed like our run game took a nose dive when he got hurt. We're down to our 3rd string RT unless we can get either Strief or Brown back.

Re: 5 and 5
Todays ' game was televised on a local station here in the Houston area.
Today was Super Bowl Sunday , for Little League that is, and I missed todays' Saints game. My niece is a Little League cheerleader and I had to go to Super Bowl Sunday . Saints,s 5-5 , PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If they make to 8-8, PREFECT. 9-7 for end of the year, so much the better. It has been a hard year for all of the years we all know. 5-5 right now with momentum for next week's game with Vitt back with Vilam back with many other positive things, FINE!!!!!! We will gladly take this 5-5 point right now. |

Re: 5 and 5
Current chances:
6 out of 6 means > 99% chance of playoffs, probably #5 seed 5 out of 6 means 91% chance of playoffs, probably #6 seed 4 out of 6 only gives us a little better than 1 in 3 chance of making playoffs Saints What If? |

Re: 5 and 5
Ignoring the NFC East. We have head to head with the Cowboys and Giants and need to win both, but we only have to finish ahead of 1 of them because the other will win that division...
Schedules of those ahead of us: Bears (7-2, 4-1 NFC) : @SF, MIN, SEA, @MIN, GB, @ARZ, @DET Packers (7-3, 5-2 NFC) : @NYG, MIN, DET, @CHI, TEN, @MIN 49ers (6-2-1, 4-2-1 NFC) : CHI, @NO, @STL, MIA, @NE, @SEA, ARZ Seahawks (6-4, 4-4 NFC) : @MIA, @CHI, ARZ, @BUF, SF, STL Bucs (6-4, 3-4 NFC) : ATL, @DEN, PHI, @NO, STL, @ATL Vikings (6-4, 4-3 NFC) : @CHI, @GB, CHI, @STL, @HOU, GB Bucs & Vikings schedules are brutal. We just need to beat out either the 2nd place NFC West team or the 2nd place NFC North team... |

Re: 5 and 5
Red Zone defense is what is really paying off on that defense.
I guess its because its hard to get burned 40 yard down field when all you need to cover is about 10-15 yard zone. |

Re: 5 and 5
I was thinking this exact thing yesterday. The Saints defense may suck for 80 yards of the field, but if the opposing team gets inside the 20, it's on lock down lately.

Re: 5 and 5
The defense really in truly does need to do a better job in between the 20's, but for now it's plenty good enough. If they bend this much against elite teams, they will break, however (for the record, I don't consider Atlanta elite, though it was still an admirable performance by the D, nonetheless). It's nothing schematic, it's just a matter of tackling better. We missed a butt load of tackles today, but would either get a turnover or would finally buckle down in the red zone. If they can consistently tackle and keep creating turnovers, we're going to be impossible to beat. That's a big if, but all signs are pointing in the right direction, at least.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.
