Joe Vitt For HC ? ( Life without Payton )
" This Year We Should Become a Mirror Image of The San Francisco 49'ers Offensively "
When I said this 11 Weeks ago I was taunted vigorously for it ... After trying to be the 2011 Saints without Payton it Now seems the tide has turned and we figured out we just aren't that team. We know what our losses have in common but what do our Wins have in Common ? A smash mouth running game and our targets getting behind coverage on play action fakes and Lance Moore doing a variation of Gangnam style in the Endzone ... What does San Fran do best ? Run the Bull and Let Vernon Davis Get his Cake and Eat it. I was right all along. If you review our playoff losses or any significant Saints losses of late Drew Brees threw for well over 350 yards and had at least 2 Passing TD's. But we lost , because the other team had WAY too much time to answer back oh yeah and our defense was offensive ( See what I did there ) Now onto the Main Coarse of the Discussion .. Teams become and take on the personality of the Head Coach they are under and the proof is in the pudding ... With Sean Payton at the Helm we were mirror images of Sean Payton on the field. Smart , Accurate , Innovative , Quick hitting and Efficient ... With Aaron Kromer at the Helm we were mirror images of Aaron Kromer on the field. Bright , Promising , but Ultimately had no real answers. With Joe Vitt at the Helm we are mirror images of Joe Vitt on the field. Passionate , Pist off , Physical , and Lets em hang low. I like this Saints Team most because despite the doubters ( even some of us ) denying our chances this year , we smiled and became what we never have been , a Physical Run and Cut Team. And it works for us amazingly . I'm just speculating here but if SP should decide Dallas is a better match for him ( Hell Freezing over Twice on Hot Summers Day ) I think Joe Vitt has the stones to make this team not just relevant but DOMINANT. The Giants found their special gear in 07 after all hell broke loose for them in a similar situation, If we can find the equivalent of that gear the Giants found , MAY GOD HAVE MERCY Drews gonna need Sonic the hedgehog for all those rings |

This is a discussion for after the season... Even then Vitt is not the man to consider.
This is STILL the Sean Payton show, guest hosts don't draw a crowd. Joe is driving Sean Paytons custom rod and that does not make him a mechanic. |

It agree with Oak completely. This IS SP's team. Especially the offense which happens to be the one part that really works well. Don't get caught up believing that Vitt is a great coach just because he has won a few games. Is he better that Kromer? Yes. Is SP better than Vitt? Hell YES. Great coaches build empires that last for some time even after they are gone, or as in this case, suspended.
Take a look at Dallas since the ego maniac Jerry Jones took over. Jimmy Johnson (1989-1993)- 8 playoff victories and 2 Super Bowls Barry Switzer (1994-1997) - 7 playfoff victories and 1 Super Bowl in 1995 Since then 5 head coarches - 1 playoff victory and 0 Super Bowl appearances I contend that Switzer won with Johnson's team. In Switzer's last year the Cowboys were 6-10 and missed the playoffs entirely. |

Payton will not leave, but for giggles the only coach I could see taking his place and winning would be Coward, first it would be a dominate D and a smash mouth O, how much do you think he would like Ivory? That would be my only choice, not Vitt!!

Re: Joe Vitt For HC ? ( Life without Payton )
It's quite a bit of speculation but other than the part where he has actually said outright that he doesn't want to be a head coach, Vitt certainly has the stones and the skill set for the job. He is the epitome of the Saints' doctrine of "next man up," and when that philosophy works it's really awesome.

Vitt is too conservative for my taste. He has the stones to yell in someones face but not to call the aggressive plays. |

No way. A Saints vacancy would be the TOP vacancy in the NFL with a career QB and loaded talent. A coaching search would bring in a name brand, Superbowl veteran coach.
