this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I seriouly doubt that fantasy football even crosses the minds of professionals who actually play! Starters should start and play until the game is over....

Re: Garbage time
I was shocked to see Drew take a knee against Atlanta. The fantasy game I play has NOTHING to do with football!!! LOL

Re: Garbage time
It was good to see actual coaching last night on MNF.
With the Texans down 42 to 7 with 7:20 remaining in the 4th quarter (garbage time), Gary Kubiak brought in Schaub and backups at runningback and receiver. After a punt, Belicheck followed suit and brought in Ryan Mallett and some runningback I never heard of. Kubiak ran a balanced attack, and it wasn't always pretty, but Yates got a score on a QB keeper. Glad to see Kubiak and Schaub had some sense in the way they handled the end of that game. I do not buy that Brees, down 52 to 27 with 5 minutes left in the 4th, is showing team spirit by trying to win an unwinnable game. On Sunday they were not trying to throw the ball deep downfield or get the ball out of bounds consistently to indicate that was the motive. Everything was to Jimmy Graham, Colston and Sproles in-bounds, no-huddle, clock running. It's pass stat padding for Brees and his top-line players, pure and simple. I fear one of them rolls an ankle and they learn the hard way. Do you want to continue to play hard and possibly make the score more respectable? Of course, but do it with your backups who will appreciate coming off the bench and being on the field. What does Daniel ever learn by Brees hogging all the playing time? Very little. Maybe Brees will even learn from watching a play or a mistake that Daniel does. As far as the fan perspective, any fan in attendance in NYC got to see plenty of Brees, both good plays and bad, for the first 55 minutes of clock time. Bringing in Daniel for the last drive attempt should not irritate anyone. On the contrary, many true fans like to see the backups play. In basketball, garbage time is kind of nice for the fans because you get to see minutes for guys who almost never play. At least you get to see something different at the end of the game. Very often you will see that they those bench players do suck and need to stay on the end of the bench, but once in a while a diamond in the rough emerges or at least someone has a hot hand that night to lift the spirits a bit in the arena. |

Re: Garbage time
Down 52 to 27 with 5 minutes left, the game is over. To me the game is over when you reach a point where there is clearly not enough time left to win, not when the clock reaches 0:00. Four scores in 5 minutes, with the other time trying to run the clock is simply not going to happen. Thinking there is still a chance to win is delusional.
The only scenario in which we win is if the Giants intentionally throw the game. Eli Manning would literally have to start handing the ball off to our defensive players for us to win. |

Re: Garbage time
"Never Give Up" ... on padding your stats. I can see through the facade that is going on at the end of blowout losses.
If you want a real example of Never Giving Up, there is Jim Valvano. And Steve Gleason. |

Re: Garbage time
I like Drew Brees as much as the next Saints fan. But I also have an opinion about what I saw at the end of the Giants game. I condemn the decision, not the player. And it's a indictment of the Vitt and Carmichael, because I think right now Brees is running a little unchecked and the tail is wagging the dog. We need Payton back
