Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board

Draft Order rules need to be changed...

How in the blazes with two teams tied with the same record, Saints and Panthers, and the Panthers slapping us twice in one season do they pick ahead of the Saints?

That's another slap...

Anyways, we have the No. 15 pick...

That is why I'd be amazed if it were to happen, but who knows with the combine still ahead of us; if he tanks there, he might just drop enough on the boards to be available for the Saints. ;-)

If Amerson really can run a 4.4 at that size and knows atleast something about playing football we need to find a way to get him. A guy lik ethat can go toe to toe with the big guys like Colston, CJ, Fitz n dem.

Now jeanpierre, I think you need to get out more.
Georgia
NC State
San Jose State
Georgia
South Carolina
Tulane
Stanford

Where's the players from Where the Hell State that we always seem to be pulling out of our hat? You're also forgetting the very good ball players north of the Mason Dixon line. My prediction is Geathers will never be more than mediocre at the pro level. We can do better. Plus we'll pick up some major FA talent at linebacker and our draft picks will totally surprise us. (Especially without GW there to tell everyone what we're doing beforehand.)

Saints Trade Back Scenario

01 (Trade Down)

01 (20-25) Alec Ogletree, LB, Georgia; Height: 6-3. Weight: 236; Estimated 40 - 4.6.

Excellent all-around athlete; Playmaker, Production with Sacks, Pass Defensed, Int; Character Issues - suspended four games for positive pi$$ test...

Why he'll be drafted by Saints? Wouldn't be surprised if the interview of Todd Grantham is to get more insight into reasons behind Ogletree's suspension...

02 Goodelled

02 (52-57) David Amerson, CB, NC State; Height: 6-2. Weight: 194; Estimated 40 - 4.4.

Led nation as sophomore with thirteen (13) interceptions; can move to Safety (position he was recruited for out of High School; will match up well against big, physical NFL receivers; had disappointing Junior Year which will cause him to fall to second round...

Why Saints should draft him? The Saints have to get as physical with receivers as the new NFL passing defense rules will allow which mean physical engagement at the LOS and reducing the passing windows quarterbacks may throw over smaller DBs to WRs...

03 David Quessenberry, OT, San Jose State; Height: 6-5. Weight: 295; Estimated 40 - 5.1.

Rising prospect; Smaller school product that took advantage of his invite at the Senior Bowl and really held his own against some very polished pass rushers.

Why the Saints will draft him? The Saints are different than most teams in that they commit their resources (salary cap) to their interior line; but the tackle play has been less than stellar and rumor is that Bushrod and the Saints will be far apart on contract expectations; a young, quicker, hungrier Tackle may be the ticket to energize what has been one of the best units in the league...

04 Kwame Geathers, NT, Georgia; Height: 6-6. Weight: 355; Estimated 40 - 5.2.

Big Strong Junior Early Entry from Georgia; Good Bloodlines; Excellent Prospect who'll be available in mid rounds as he still needs some coaching...

Why Saints Should Draft Him? This is Jumpy Geathers' Nephew!

05 Devin Taylor, DE, South Carolina; Height: 6-7. Weight: 275; Estimated 40 - 4.8.

Another player who's stat lines declined this year after being named First Team All-SEC last season; his big frame offers some unique matchups, however he'll have to match up against slower right tackles; but in a 3-4, his focus will be more on occupying lineman allowing the linebackers to attack...

Why the Saints will draft him? He's exactly the type of value the Saints always seem to find in the mid-rounds; and with plenty of defensive ends available the past two season, he should be available...

06 Ryan Griffin, QB, Tulane; Height: 6-5. Weight: 206; Estimated 40 - 4.9.

Pedestrian numbers for a typically disappointing Tulane Squad this past season- 9GS, 2771 PaYd, PaCp 62.2, 19 PaTD, 11 Int; so what's the big deal? He shows up at the Texas v. The World Game and surrounded with comparable talent to the other signal callers he blows it outta there with Scouts scrambling moving this All-Academic Signal Caller up draft boards...

Why the Saints Will Draft Him? Curtis Johnson, former Saints WR Coach, is the new Tulane Head Coach and will give Sean Payton a no-nonsense, first-hand scouting report that will sneak the Saints an excellent prospect at QB...

07 Levine Toilolo, TE, Stanford; Height: 6-7. Weight: 265; Estimated 40 - 4.7.

Red Shirt Junior who's had his moments in the shadows of TE Zach Ertz including an 141 ReYD in the Arizona game and four (4) ReTd on the season; Playing behind Ertz he did not get the same level of coaching and attention and left with a year of eligibility...

Why the Saints should draft him? This guy's got monster ability and just needs some coaching; with Graham coming into a contract year and the offense "limited" while Graham was injured all season; this is the type of insurance policy the Saints need behind Graham...

Seer,

I did have San Jose State and Stanford in there?

Now Georgia has several excellent prospects in Jarvis Jones, John Jenkins, Ogletree, Rambo, and Geathers...

I strongly disagree and think Geathers is excellent value where I've got him...

The Saints have drafted from the same school multiple times in the same year; if the guys can play, they can play...

I should disclose that though I'm an SEC guy, Georgia is probably one of my least favorites in the league...

And look, Hagan started this a few years ago where we all put up mocks, wish list, etc - this thread wasn't meant to be just my mock up wish list as I hope everyone would join in with their mock/wish list...

And my mock is constantly changing as I use a collection of eight mock draft sites and ranking sites to see what options the Saints may have...

Hey, it's what I enjoy when I'm on call at work to pass the time...

Just yankin' your chain a bit. I do think Williams is a better bet at NT and that Geathers is going to be another Ellis once he hits the big leagues.

Jesse Williams, Alabama?!? He won't be there passed the second round...

No Brandon Williams from Missouri Southern. I'm thinking trade our one for a two and a three and picking up Williams in the second.
