Just like it does every year. Loomis always shores up weaknesses with mid-level free agents. Occasionally he'll land an upper tier guy (Vilma, Shockey, Sharper etc) but mostly mid-tier guys that fit our system.
It was nearly unanimous that Marquis Johson was our best CB in preseason. He fit Spags system perfectly and there was no learning curve. And he was a medocre free-agent at best. I wonder how we'd have done if he'd stayed healthy? Greer and Robinson are not good fits for zone CB's. My guess is that we shore up all the problem areas in free agency then draft BPA with every pick, excluding QB and RB. |
