this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I'd be happy with Werner or Moore if they go defense, why do I have the feeling it will be OT or WR in the 1st round...

I just wish the Saints had their 2nd round pick, because it would make the 1st round pick less of an gamble, as it stands now, they must hit on that 1st rounder or make a good trade down. |

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
I have to agree with you on this.....Brees has lost a few steps and we should find a young QB to learn underneath him while we still have him. I know this will sound stupid, but I have to say; what if we picked up Joe Montanas kid as an undrafted rookie free agent? The combination of his father, Drew Brees, and Sean Payton could turn him into the next future hall of famer. Also, if he doesn't turn out to be that good we dont lose a bunch of money. Just a thought.......

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
We need pass rushing DE's and CB's who can actually cover, for starters. I don't think either position can really use the excuse that the other is the reason for their problems. People say that the lack of pressure makes the corners have to cover too long, and I agree with that 100%. But when there is pressure the QB seems to always find someone wide open to chunk it to. Both positions have been unbelievably awful.
The safeties make some plays, but consistently get burned in coverage aswell. And Malcolm Jenkins, despite the occasional amazing play, is one of the worst form tacklers I've ever seen at the position. But we need OT's just as bad as anything. I can remember arguing with a certain member on here in the off season about that very point. He couldn't believe that I would want anything on offense BEFORE a defensive player, because we were just so stacked on that side of the ball... You know who you are... How about that offense this year? If Drew is being paid 100 million to be the franchise player, you must protect him. I do believe that defensive help is just as important, but if the right guy isn't there, get an OT. |
If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

Romeus is more of a question mark, even if he has successfully rehabbed from his second season ending injury and can join the team in the offseason - I don't think they can count too much on him contributing since at this point one has to wonder if his body can really allow him to play at the NFL level without injuring himself, and how much toll these injuries have taken on him mentally, but also in terms of being out of football for years. |
