The Saints are high on free agent OLB Victor Butler's wish list.

Butler is currently visiting the Steelers, and they're reportedly pushing hard to land him to replace James Harrison. If he makes it out of Pittsburgh, then the next stop would likely be New Orleans with old defensive boss Rob Ryan. Butler, Martez Wilson, and Junior Galette would be a solid trio of young pass rushers. The Jets are reportedly targeting Butler, but the interest may not be mutual.

We landed the number 1 guy on our list... might as well get the other one too.

Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege.

All little common sense goes a long way.

No one has said it yet, but Greer looks to be done...

Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets

If the BS about Ryan wanting CB Nnamdi Asomugha is legit, then we will have two new cornerbacks to start the season with several good candidates to man the nickelback...

What would really send this thing to another level would be to sign a safety that can cover like FS Michael Huff, OAK...

This would either allow you move Jenkins to SS and recoup the Harper cap hit by releasing Harper or you could pass on the Lone Eater and keep Harper at SS and pair Jenkins with Lewis at the corners...

We still need an OT, a backup QB, another TE, and a better DE than Will "paid & done" Smith...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets

2013 New Orleans Saints Defense (Projected)

LDE Cam Jordan, Greg Romeus, Jay Richardson

NT Broderick Bunkley, Akiem Hicks

RDE Will Smith, Tom Johnson, Tyrunn Walker

WLB Jon Vilma, Chris Chamberlain

MLB Curtis Lofton, Austin Johnson

SLB David Hawthorne, Martez Wilson

JLB Junior Galette, Braylon Broughton

CB Jabari Greer, Keenan Lewis, Corey White, Ryan Steed

FS Malcolm Jenkins, Rafael Bush, Jerico Nelson

SS Roman Harper, Isa Abdul-Quddus,

CB Patrick Robinson, Dion Turner, A.J. Davis

A couple of things of things jump out:

Lewis is replacing Greer, not Robinson; if Nnamdi signs, as rumored, both Greer and Robinson are definitely gone...

There is no way in hell Will Smith plays OLB; can the team stand pat with him at DE in the 3-4?

With a friendlier cap number, Smith is tradeable to a 4-3 team, but with the Saints doing the espirit de corps/loyalty thing, that's unlikely...

Can Martez Wilson overtake a Healthy Hawthorne?

We are lacking in depth at the Middle Backer spots...

Michael Huff is a talented safety that can cover (move to CB to help with a lack of depth for the Raiders) and is available...

With a change of scenery and a winning atomosphere, Huff should be seriously considered and courted heavily by the Saints...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets

2013 New Orleans Saints Offense (Projected)

QB Drew Brees, ???

RB Mark Ingram, Pierre Thomas, Darren Sproles, Chris Ivory, Traveris Cadet

FB Jed Collins

WR Marques Colston, ???, Nick Toon, Chris Givens, Saalim Hakim

SR Lance Moore, Joseph Morgan, Andy Tanner, Jarrod Fayson, Preston Parker

TE Jimmy Graham, Michael Higgins, ???

LT Charles Brown, Marcel Jones

LG Ben Grubbs, Eric Olsen

C Brian de la Puente, Ryan Lee

RG Jahri Evans, Andrew Tiller, Ricky Henry

RT Zach Strief, Bryce Harris

Wow, we have some serious needs, holes on offense:

No Backup Quarterback...

Charles Brown at Left Tackle? Hey Drew, want to get away?

I love Strief's heart, I just don't like his week to week starting...

We have no proven receivers after Colston and Moore?

Can Morgan perform consistently?

Guess we kinda gone miss Devery afterall?

Can see where Edelman would be a huge addition to this and special teams unit...

This logjam at Running Back needs to be addressed...

We're gonna miss David Thomas even with his concussions - Thanks Dave for your game!

WLB Jon Vilma, Chris Chamberlain

MLB Curtis Lofton, Ramon Humber, Austin Johnson

CB Jabari Greer, Keenan Lewis, Corey White, Ryan Steed

FS Malcolm Jenkins, Rafael Bush, Jerico Nelson

SS Roman Harper, Isa Abdul-Quddus,

CB Patrick Robinson, Dion Turner, A.J. Davis

Notes: As stated earlier, I believe Lewis is replacing Greer, not Robinson; if Nnamdi signs, as rumored, both Greer and Robinson are probably gone; meaning we can chalk up yet another bust in the first round...

Again, there is no way in hell Will Smith plays OLB; can the team really stand pat with him at DE in the 3-4?

With a friendlier cap number, is Smith is tradeable to a 4-3 team?

Probably won't happen with the Saints rewarding loyalty...

Now, can Martez Wilson overtake a Healthy Hawthorne?

Have argued that Michael Huff with his talents/skill set and abilities to cover would have a better impact than the Nnamdi signing (could we afford both?!?) Huff is available and should be signed...

Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets

Brad Jones GB ILB maybe? lets see if gets out of Tenn. I am surprised we have not herd his name

Victor Butler, DE/OLB, Cowboys still no word on his visit to pitt?

those two young proven 34 LB would be a great addition securing our LB corp and setting my mind at ease about the LB we have now. some what.

With Connor Barwin off the table, I'd love for the Saints to pursue Jones with passion.

Both Jones and Butler would be welcome additions to the Saints' roster.
