I think Asomugha would be a decent pick up for the right price but imo its easier to sign a OT in FA then go OLB/CB with the first picks of the draft than sign Asomugha and try and get a OLB/LOT through the draft.
There are a few decent looking ROT in rounds 2-4 but few that could plug straight in at LOT.
jeanpierre and K Major like this.

"Two receivers to the left, Garcon to the right. Manning in the shotgun, puts Collie in motion. Looks in his direction...it's picked off! It's picked off! It's Tracy Porter again! He's runnin' free! He's gonna go all the way!

Ben Watson was not even on my list for a good reason. The pats were right to let him walk he aint all that. like i said in the signing thread one play you love him and the next you will be throwing thing at the tV. IMO he is a media darling.
Maybe just maybe he wants to end his career on a high note but i am not betting on it

I'd wait to judge his decline until seeing him play with some motivation. Philly was a plain toxic place to be. And even if he has lost a step, he'd still be able to cover most. As far as a corner of our's getting burnt once in a while? Hell, that's why we have Drew!

Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets

If we make a move in 2013 carry over is key

2014/2015 FA salary players
1 yr carry over
Malcolm Jenkins 2,414,000 - 2014
Will Smith 10,400,000 - 2015 FA - Club option for the 2014 season

2015/2016 FA salary players
2 yr carry over
Roman Harper 6,000,000 - 2015
Patrick Robinson 872,500 - 2015

2016/2017 FA salary players
3 yr carry over
Jabari Greer 4,200,000 - 2016

spotrac.com - not sure how updated the info is with FA going on

Saints have a bail out option on Smith in 2014? hmmmm big year for Smith. I would love to see if that is still in place and what the details are.

I see a very deep and crowded backfield for the saints till next year or 2015. The saints hate cap carry over and dead cap money is not smart when you are fighting to stay under the cap for the upcoming years

Anyways 2015/2016 is a very big year for saints and resigning players. Not that there are many big names in the groups just a large number of our young core players will be up for their just due according to their agents.

next three years will be a fun. I hope Micky can live through it.

If I remember it correctly, the 2014 year was optional in the original contract the Saints gave Smith, but it's no longer optional in the restructured contract the Saints made with Smith last offseason. They did that so that they could have one extra year to spread out the prorated signing bonus, so if this newest restructure hasn't changed it - I think Smith is signed for the next two seasons.

As much money as is committed to Brees/Colston/Passing Game - to have a total failure at Left Tackle would be beyond Epic Fail...

Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets

Per Brian McIntyre of Yahoo.com "According to a source with knowledge of the reworked deals, Smith and Vilma reduced their cash compensation and cap numbers by nearly $11 million combined."

"Smith was scheduled to earn $10.15 million in cash compensation in 2013, including a $1 million roster bonus on the 15th day of the league year, a $9 million base salary and a $150,000 workout bonus. Smith was scheduled to count $14.502 million against the cap. In the renegotiated deal, Smith's $1 million roster bonus and $150,000 workout bonus remain, but his salary has been reduced to $3 million, a $6 million pay cut that lowers his cap number to $8.502 million for the upcoming season."

"The 2014 season on Smith's contract, which calls for a $10.4 million base salary, $1 million roster bonus and $150,000 workout bonus, was unchanged."

Seen chatter that 2014 is a club option, but haven't seen an article regarding same; and wouldn't rolling some money forward still count against Saints cap in 2014?

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

With Reed looking like a signature away from being a Texan the Ravens are reportedly looking at Huff to replace him in their backfield - bad news for your dream of bringing him over JP.

Ravens among NFL teams interested in safety Michael Huff, source says - baltimoresun.com

Yeah, I was hoping the Saints Brass would take a closer look and realize what he could do for our secondary...

I'm surprised Alexander seems to be being overlooked by everyone.
The Chargers didnt put any big tender on him from what I have read.
