Before the Madness begins and let me forewarn it's 100% madness , let's take into account what Superbowl Teams have in common.

* A team that is peaking talent and age wise ... There is a special time when players and teams have a glow to them. i e ... 49'ers. For whatever reason , things flow their way , They are in the heat of their prime ,a balance struck between young stud and Savy Veteran. Kind of funny I got into an argument with a buddy of mine who's a cowboys fan and I was explaining to him how Romo will never win a ring. Not because of his Talents or lack thereof but because he's wasted several teams that were peaking at the right time. From the Julius Jones Era to Marions to Felix now Murrays , they had some bonafide teams. Now he's with a group of toddlers so to speak and the chem is all off. Like I said the right timing is everything. They were primed oh well. Give drew that level of talent and it'd be ugly. ( Just a thought )

* Defense : A team that is Superbowl Bound has a good enough defense. Whether that be giving up a ton of yards but very little points or giving up a ton of points then cashing in on a bunch of takeaways ( Our 09 Model ) A game changing performance would be neccessary game in and out to take one all the way. ( Tracy Porter anybody ? ) I still don't know how we let that man walk.

QB : Flat out theres no way around it. Your field general has to be lights out on fire. Comprende ? Eli , Brees , Rodgers , Brady ( I don't have to go into further detail )

Now with this being said here is my wild and crazy proposition.

Trade Drew Brees for Cam Newton.

Why ??? NOOO !!!

Just a Second Let me Explain here.

The Panthers have a Veteran Team just not a Vet QB. IMO this is one of the most explosive teams period. Drew would greatly benefit from the zone that they are already in being that they are in that perfect zone in their careers.
He'd have a decent defense and we all know that's all he needs. Anything this man touches becomes a weapon and Steve Smith is already a Missile.
Let me explain though why it wouldn't work for Cam. By the time this guy hits his stride 4th or 5th Year ( Coaching Changes greatly harm young players ) the veteran Talent around him will be falling apart or retired. Thus wasting another Athletic QB. The panthers Age tells a tale of a team that's ready to win now. The Panther Salary Cap could easily manage Drew. The Panthers also have the best or one of the best offensive lines when healthy.
The last thing Drew Needs is more time to hurt your Db's feelings.

Now what do we get out of it ? Cam Newton and Sean Payton. We are young band of players. Think about it ... Graham , Moore , Ingram , Jordan , with the just right amount of Vets. Plus were going to go for youth in key positions in this years draft. We will be a younger team. I think SP would not only maximize On Cams talent and ability , but get him to a new gear. Almost Auburn like numbers. Think about RGIII and Shanahan , Now dare to Imagine Cam Newton and Sean Payton. Naturally we would run the Ball which means that other heisman winning guy would actually get some carries. Stats don't lie either , when we run the ball our defense is lights out as well. Then lastly the Primed thing. Imagine a Team thats 5 years away from being in their prime but can play like it now with Sean Payton on the Sticks ? I can't make this up people.


There you have it . Drew gets his 4 Years of Primed Vets , An offensive Line

We Get 2 Heisman winners and Sean Payton. And A Team to be Feared for at least a Decade to come.

If all the Saints need is a younger QB, why not trade Brees for Sanchez or Tebow?

The defense is learning a new scheme and we are finally seeing the results of it.

When we get Payton back next year, there will be changes made in the Saints roster, and the Saints will be ready to go back to the Super Bowl!

Except for the gender, I agree with Tommy Lee Jones!

Why trade for 2 busts ? Cam Is Legit and worlds better than Tebow or Sanchez maybe even put together he is still better.

I feel I need a shower just for reading about that trade.

Newtons attitude stinks,he has talent but a huge ego that needs him to be centre stage all the time.Drew still has time here,if we have another season like this one next year then I would say it maybe time to rebuild the team and a trade could be beneficial to all parties but Newton in a black and gold jersey(shudders)

Your right, I don't like the idea. The thought of trading Brees for Newton is counter to the team's philosophy. In 2010 Loomis voiced the thought process used when he and Payton built the current organization.

"We felt like character was even more important for our team," Loomis said. "That's been true from the first meeting I had with Sean and we've continued to have that emphasis." This search for character is what has made the Saints a dominant power over the past five years.

The mistake they made was they misjudged the "character" of Williams. Though they did win the Superbowl with him, it has cost the organization ever since.

Now you want to trade proven talent and character (Brees) for raw talent with major character flaws (Newton). Worse yet, trade Brees to a division team so that he can kick the Saint's butts twice a year for the next 5+ years. Dumb, really dumb idea.

It just doesn't hold water, just go look at New England and Tom Brady. A team can go up and down during a QB's carreer. Heck look at Elway, Lost 3 SB's but then late in his career, with Shanahan won 2 straight SB's. You never, ever, EVER trade a proven top shelf QB while he still has gas in the tank. True greatness at the QB position is too hard to find.

Newton is the same as Brooks was, all about himself, I never ever want to see him in a Saints uniform as long as I am alive. Payton can groom anyone else as far as I am concerned, anyone else!!

I dont agree w/ the trade thing but how do we know Cam is all about himself or Isn't a team player he doesn't play for US and I dont think no one on here knows him personally...and when you only have 1! legit reciever I'd run before I pass too...Im a FOOTBALL FAN 1st if he had some talent around him he'd be better thats all Im saying

I think most people go off his body language.It stinks,especially when they loose.Now I'm not suggesting he should look happy after a loss but he always has that look of a spoilt child that didn't get there own way.He should be trying to lift players after a defeat if he is the team leader.
It seems a lot of players don't like his attitude either.

My fiance and her whole family went to Auburn so I watch a lot of their games. Watching Newton play in college was exciting but he did begin to get on my nerves with that Superman thing when he did it in the NFL. He does seem to be all about me. I think he's peaking right now and in my opinion his career will be similar to Michael Vicks career. Leave him where he is....in our division where we can spank him twice a year.
We just committed to Brees and I want to ride his shoulder to a couple of more Super Bowls. Never give away a sure thing for a lesser value.

Saints have had their fair share, a few, of showboaters and it is not worth the trouble.

What he has played was ok. If he were so much, Elway and Denver would have kept him. I have nothing against prayer, etc., but Tebow is believing the myth about himself, remember Rock of Ages show he went to, and is too much of a distraction.


Brees will end his career. He won't end it on top either because no one does.
I think Brees has another good two years and it would be great for the Saints to have him finish his career here.
NOW, Saints , need to start looking for a good qb to develop. Is it Chase D?
