No way. He might have similarities to Payton in their coaching (control of every aspect...detail oriented in everything...accountability enforced with the players) but here's the difference.

Personality...

Now, both are widely known as arrogant a**holes in the profession. But they are 2 different degrees of arrogant a**holes. Payton seems to steer his arrogance more toward the media and the hypocritical NFL brass more than anything else. But in the lockeroom, although he chews players out and holds them accountable on every mistake they make, he seems well respected and well liked. They seem to consider him not only their unquestioned leader but a guy who's going to be their for them off the football field.

Saban on the other hand seems to be a much colder type of person. His a**hole-ishness is almost menacing. The guy doesn't seem to like ...well...anything. And say what you want about Heath Evans...but I remember his discription of how he treated his players when he was on the Dolphins. How he stepped over a guy having a seizure in the facility hallway after practice like it was nothing.

Although Payton can be a massive douche he seems a little bit in tune with the personal side of players than Saban does. And with how close this coaching staff and players are...and how much they've succeeded with that type of coaching and lockeroom atmosphere....I don't think that a sudden change to Saban would work out well at all.
