Saban to N.O.

With Payton being quite and Saban running his chops, this makes a lot of sense.

Saban is done with the college game. I dont care what he says, been there done that and dominatd.

Hes upset about the way he left Miami. He wants back in the NFL. So much so he's kissing Brees a$$ in the media.

Saban stated he'd only come back to a good gm and a great qb.

Not to mention the Mark Ingram connection for what its worth (he is all of the sudden getting a much increased workload).

I feel like enough time has passed since the LSU days, seems as though Saban is generally accepted in the region.

The more I think about it, the more it makes sense. I also am not completely opposed to it, kinda warming up to it actually.

What am I missing? What say you?

I don't want to be rude but you'd be a good fit in the current media....
making nothing into something and starting rumors.

There has been some dialogue however don't think there is much more under the surface. Saban, as much as he likes a challenge, he also likes control which no NFL team is going to give him.

Re: Saban to N.O.

No way. He might have similarities to Payton in their coaching (control of every aspect...detail oriented in everything...accountability enforced with the players) but here's the difference.

Personality...

Now, both are widely known as arrogant a**holes in the profession. But they are 2 different degrees of arrogant a**holes. Payton seems to steer his arrogance more toward the media and the hypocritical NFL brass more than anything else. But in the lockeroom, although he chews players out and holds them accountable on every mistake they make, he seems well respected and well liked. They seem to consider him not only their unquestioned leader but a guy who's going to be their for them off the football field.

Saban on the other hand seems to be a much colder type of person. His a**hole-ishness is almost menacing. The guy doesn't seem to like ...well...anything. And say what you want about Heath Evans...but I remember his discription of how he treated his players when he was on the Dolphins. How he stepped over a guy having a seizure in the facility hallway after practice like it was nothing.

Although Payton can be a massive douche he seems a little bit in tune with the personal side of players than Saban does. And with how close this coaching staff and players are...and how much they've succeeded with that type of coaching and lockeroom atmosphere....I don't think that a sudden change to Saban would work out well at all.

Well you failed miserably on the "not trying to be rude" front. Im just throwing a potential scenario out there for feedback. Thanks for the worthless reply.

Payton seems to have plenty of control in NO. But you may be right.

Thanks for this response. This was the kind of stuff I was looking for. I completely forgot about Heath Evans recolection of Saban. Mind changed. I wouldnt welcome him at this point. I think youre spot on with your Payton assesment.

Re: Saban to N.O.

It's a fun thread.

If Sean Payton didn't return, all bets are OFF. Saban's name would be thrown around, like every other high profile name in the football world.

New Orleans would be THE PREMIER venue for a head coach, and the best of the best would line up.
