Brees: Grandpa is proud
Grandpa loves running QBS
Sometimes it's not the big numbers that earn him praise. After last Sunday's 41-0 shutout of Tampa Bay, Brees said he received a voice mail from his grandfather, Ray Akins, with an unexpected message on his cell phone. "He didn't say anything about the passing, nothing," Brees said as he prepared to mimic his grandfathers's Texas drawl. "He just said, 'I saw you take off and run on that one.'" Brees, not known for running, scrambled for an 11-yard gain and first down during the second quarter of Sunday's game. Akins, a huge proponent of option and wishbone offenses, Brees said, continued: "'That made me so proud.'" Read more here: Brees: Grandpa is proud | New Orleans Saints | The Sun Herald |
"A Veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount of "up to and including my life."

Re: Brees: Grandpa is proud
So does this mean we'll see Brees run more?

Re: Brees: Grandpa is proud
Brees could become the only QB to pass 5000 yards 3 times
I hope we do what's necessary to win the game and that will be establishing the run, but Dallas secondary is hurting, brees will have his chances |

Re: Brees: Grandpa is proud
Grampa better get used to disappointment then. We don't approve of Brees as a running QB.

Re: Brees: Grandpa is proud
I was actually looking back at Brees In College and he was darn quick for a pocket QB. I think maybe dropping 20 Pounds and Putting 15 Back on in muscle (similar to Josh Freeman ) would greatly open things up on offense. I mean we can already hit you 4 Different Ways , Just a gut check to make defenses realize they can't play cover 4 on us the entire game. Nothing RGIII or Cam Newton like just a tad bit Aaron Rodgers. Even if he doesn't run it , the defense will be all kinds of out of position when he rolls out. Sometimes it's the smallest tweek that blows the doors off the dome
