Question Peterson , Fitzgerald question ...

Everyone in the NFL is talented , but some truly do stand out in a special way.
Just getting through watching the Barry Sanders A Football Life presentation , I pondered a question. Would winning a superbowl or two have changed Barry's Mind ? Then I thought ahead towards our current Stand outs and this question rings truer than ever ...

With Super Athletes like Adrian Peterson , Larry Fitzgerald , Heck even good old Steve Smith ( Carolina ) is there an ultimate goal of hoisting the Lombardi up a few times , or have they undoubtedly admitted to themselves playing on such bad teams they may never and settle into the fading sun just being happy they accomplished so much already.

I mean I cannot be the only one to wonder what Drew Brees could do with Larry Fitzgerald or Steve Smith catching his 10/10 sports science accuracy results , or how a Peterson , Ingram tandem might pan out. Of Coarse I'm a Saints fan so I gear those opportunities towards our benefits , but honestly ...

I know this much ,

Mike Wallace is a Native and has a Saints Tattoo on him.

Larry Fitzgerald's father called out the Cardinals for wasting his sons talents after the Shlacking the Seahawks gave them.

Steve Smith is a Top 10 all time receiver but hasn't hoisted a Lombardi up and Drew Can Make that a Reality.

Reggie Bush has tasted success but ironically not the playoffs since leaving New Orleans and I am obsessed with Having 2 Heisman winners in our backfield.

Lastly I know Adrian Peterson wishes his carries could amount for something more than a wildcard hope.

Just saying , Curtis Lofton realized the opportunity ...

Re: Peterson , Fitzgerald question ...

Mike Wallace could help our team, imagine that joe Morgan and mike Wallace, two of the fastest WR's in the league

As for Peterson, he is an amazing player, but our system wouldn't do him justice, we simply don't run enough to warrant trying to get him

Fitzgerald would be amazing in our offense, he'd just have a massive salary cap issue and with us paying drew what we are, and Jimmys extension coming up in the next couple years, I don't think it happens

It would be great to see our offense function with those players though

Re: Peterson , Fitzgerald question ...

The 'Barry Sanders' debate is one that rages still throughout the barber shops & sports bars of Metro Detroit. Hell ya, I think winning a SuperBowl or two would have changed Barry's mind, but that would have required a whole different mindset from the Lions front office, which is why I think Barry retired. He just got tired of playing for a bad organization, not because he didn't win a SuperBowl, IMO.

- Mike Wallace seems like a stand-up guy and I've seen interviews where he takes responsibility for having an off year. Local boy with a Saints tattoo? How can you not like the guy?

- Larry Fitzgerald is about the closest thing I've seen to the Barry Sanders scenario since ... Barry Sanders. What a waste for this guy to play for Arizona. Unfortunately, as it's been pointed out, salary cap issues.

- The Saints don't need running backs, so unfortunately, AP will have to chase a ring with someone else. Did anyone ever care about Eric Dickerson winning a SuperBowl? AP might have to just suck it up & be content with the record. Reggie Bush? Been there, done that.

- I think you just let Steve Smith finish his career out as a Carolina Panther. He's been the only target there for so long, I think the team goes into withdrawal without him.

It's fun to speculate, but I'm not a numbers guy. With big talent often comes big ego/salary demands. At the end of the day, what can you afford and are these guys willing to take salary cuts for the chance to play with Brees & win a SuperBowl?

Yeah, I don't think his attitude/personality meshes in the Saints lockerroom either.

If Adrian Peterson had been a Saint his entire career I doubt many outside of this forum would know his name.

The idea of Steve Smith as a Saint makes me feel physically ill. No and not just no but HELL NO.

However, Fitz as a Saint is a lovely thought. True, that's all it is ever going to be, but that would be awesome.

If Steve Smith was a Saint he would break a team mates jaw when he wasn't looking. He's always been a punk...........no thank you. Locker room cancer.............for sure.

I think if Sanders had played for the Cowboys and that O-line and Emmit had played for the Lions, Barry's career numbers would be absolutely untouchable and Emmit would have been just another good running back.

I will defend this opinon forever, I'm 1,000,000% certain of it.

Barry would probably have a couple Super Bowl rings to go with that's Aswell, seen as emmitt played on a team that had a top 5 Defense
