Re: My dream draft 2013
If Goodell isn't going to reinstate Payton until after the Super Bowl even though our season is over then I don't see him easing up on the loss of a draft pick either. With that being said, I wouldn't mind trading down in the 1st round and picking up that team's 2nd round pick as compensation.

Re: My dream draft 2013
Don't hold your breath on Godhell giving us our second rounder back.
Now if we were to water board him he would probably go for it. Let him hold his breath in anticipation for awhile. God I hate that man and I don't hate. |
Re: My dream draft 2013
I think Roger gives back the pick. The franchise cooperated. So what if the players fought back.

Re: My dream draft 2013
Here's some interesting thoughts I came up with:
I don't know, here are a few things I think we could wind up seeing. Players that though are rated a little higher who could still be avaliable when the Saints pick. Round 1. 1. Bjoern Werner - DE - Texas A&M - 6'-4" - 260 Lbs. 2. Barkevious Mingo - OLB - LSU - 6'-41/2" - 245 Lbs. ( Could you see him and Wilson as our OLB's?) 3. Sheldon Richardson - DT - Missouri - 6'-3" - 310 Lbs. 4. Jonathan Hankins - DT - Ohio St. 6'-3" - 325 Lbs. 5. Sam Montgomery - DE - LSU - 6'-4" - 268 Lbs. Fortunately, we need all of those positions and could get one of these top talents at that position as I believe one could fall to us depending on how the draft goes and maybe even one or two more. It's also quite possible that we could trade down 1-3 spots and still get one of these 5 players as well as picking up a 2nd round pick that would put us in the 48-50 range, so...... Round 2 1.Justin Pugh - LOT - Syracuse - 6'-4" - 298 Lbs. 2. Logan Ryan - CB - Rutgers - 5'-11 1/2" - 192 Lbs. 3.Travis Frederick - C - Wisconsin - 6'-4 1/2" - 330 Lbs. ( I can see our run game improving now.) 4.William Gholston - DE - Michigan St. - 6'-6 1/2" - 280 Lbs. 5. Brandon Jenkins - DE/OLB - Florida St. - 6'-3" - 262 Lbs. Again, we could use any of these positions too. Round 3 1. Corey Lemoiner - DE/OLB - Auburn - 6'-3" 250 Lbs. 2. Akeem Spence - DT - IL. - 6'-1" - 310 Lbs. (A little small but hard to move.) 3. Tharold Simon - CB - LSU - 6'-2 1/4" - 195 Lbs. (Big corners are what is making Seattle a contender.) 4. Joe Kruger - DE - Utah - 6'-6 1/2" - 275 Lbs. 5. Tyrann Mathieu - CB - LSU - (A reach here maybe?) Anyway, what's encouraging is that these are some top talents at their positions for the rounds they could be selected in which I believe I have them fairly realistically positioned and they are all need areas for our team. I'd need to get more info to go further into the latter rounds. Thoughts?? |

Re: my dream draft 2.0
Hey Danno
What do you really think. I know that we have other needs. These Picks would turn weak areas into positions of strenghth |

I'm sure we'll address some of our holes via free agency. I like the positions you're targeting, but I'd rather just go BPA at 7 or 8 different positions. In no particular order...DE/DT/OLB/CB/FS/OT/SS/TE/OC. |
Re: my dream draft 2.0
Im not saying Jordan Poyer should be our first round pick, but Jordan Poyer better end up a Saint...... He is the best zone corner in the draft. If spags is gonna continue it's important that we help him at the corner position
Poyer in the third....... I want Tyronn Mathieu too, but not until the later half of the draft....... Dion Jordan will fall because of his injury, and I think he could be had in the second. I really don't like Margus Hunt |
Re: my dream draft 2.0
I have seen Hunt in some mocks at the end of the first now.
Amazing as in late November he was regarded as a 3/4 rounder.Wouldnt surprise me if he went up even higher after the combines. |
Re: my dream draft 2.0
Well how things. change . I will have to redream. 34?
|
Re: my dream draft 2.0
The 3-4 kind of changes things a bit.
|
Re: my dream draft 2.0
I think we should take the Tulane kicker with our 6th
|
Re: my dream draft 2.0
We could move down in the first pick up a second round pick and draft Jonathan Jenkins from Georgia [6'3 - 358] we wouldn't have to worry about a NT for a few years...
|
Re: my dream draft 2.0
No more georgia linemen. They all suck donkey rods. Sully???
|
Re: my dream draft 2.0
I am reminded of a Jim Finis saying that anytime you draft a big guy that can run you should because God didn't make many of them. NT is the one of the keys to the 34. J.Hankins Jessie Williams Sylvester Williams are some of the 34 NTs in a draft deep with quality players. Sheldon Richardson is more of a 34 DE . MANTI TEO is a player with success at. 34 ILB . One of the things necessary to the 34 is a WLB that can rush the passer . MINGO. JORDAN OKAEFOR JENKINS are possible. Pi ks at this position.

Draft the big men 1st. On defense, the closer to the line of scrimmage you get, the more important the position is. A great front line can compensate for a bad secondary so much more than a great secondary can compensate for a bad front line. D-Line>>>LB's>>CB's>S's With todays arena league passing rules its not as concrete as it once was, but I still think it's mostly true. CB's may now be just as important as LB's in todays NFL. |
I think the way the league is going its going to be more important to get ball hawks in the secondary.
|
Re: my dream draft 2.0
Football starts with the line on both sides of the ball! Switching to a 3-4 we have to shore up our front 7 or even the best DB's will get abused.
A QB who can sit back and not worry about pressure can eventually find someone open. Same if we can't stop the run, then the safeties have to move down into the box and finding that open man becomes all the more easier |
Re: my dream draft 2.0
The prevailing therory is you build from the inside out. NT, DE ILB.The front three's job is to tie up the OL so that the 4 LBs can make plays. I feel that this draft is deep at both DL positions We should pick BPA defense in rd 1 and make multiple picks on the DL

Teams may decide to address DE/DT instead of shopping for those mid-tier free-agents more so than in previous years. We may be able to address depth at key positions with some inexpensive roll player types thru free-agency. |
My dream draft 3.0
TRADE DOWN with Bears to #20 John. Jenkins Saints get 3RD and 4th
3a J. Poyer CB 3b TJ McDonald S 4a Chris Faulk OT 4b Ryan Swope WR 5 Bennie Logan DT 6 Joe Kruger DE 7 Travis Kelce TE |
Re: My dream draft 3.0
I would have to go into a little deeper to grade but i do see some names
|
Re: My dream draft 3.0
Bears don't have a 3rd rounder because of the Brandon Marshall trade. I really want Ziggy Ansah or Dion Jordan
|
Re: My dream draft 3.0
Trade down to 20 recoup a second rounder. Or trade Harper......
1. Dion Jordan 2. Eric Reid 3. Brandon Williams 4. Leon McFadden 5. Blindi Wilson Offensive tackle don't care who...... |
Re: My dream draft 3.0
Some really good names being talked about on this board. Great information.

Re: My dream draft 3.0
No way would I trade down 5 spots and only get a 3rd and 4th. A 2nd and 3rd maybe but not a 3rd and 4th. Oh, and no WR, I could see a TE and OT but no WR.
|
Re: My dream draft 3.0
I looked at a trade chart and the chart said that the difference was 200 Points. Bears. 2nd worth 380 pts. Oops missed on the 3rd rd pick

then trade hester in order to move around on the draft board. but make sure you have him traded first. as soon as you get him do the trade do not think about it. do not get stuck with him Quote:

WR i could deal with. i never bought into the media hype about our wr being so freaking deep and good. i am looking more for a bigger WR if we go that route. We still need a tall WR to back up or complement Colston I think if the saints play it smart and start playing around with travis as a slot style wr we might be good for another year or two till sproles contract runs out. |
