this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Worked with Payton in Dallas. Not a great head coach, but an excellent O line coach. What would you all think?...

Re: SPECULATION - Tony Sparano as O Line Coach
Good idea saintsfan1976, I like it.
Some coaches are just great position coaches and not HC material. |

Re: SPECULATION - Tony Sparano as O Line Coach
As long as he has no say in our offensive philosophy and stick to what he does best. He's sucked as a HC and OC and their lines weren't great either... and that's with some pretty good OL personnel. Don't really remember how he was in Dallas.

A change of scenery can do a man wonders.
Agreed. Unfortunately it seems KC has the first shot with Payton out. |

Re: SPECULATION - Tony Sparano as O Line Coach
I wouldn't be against it. They could get some insider tips from him since the Saints play the AFC East next season. He may be looking for some incentive anyway since he was put in a position to fail as an OC for the Jets. That team had zero talent at the skill positions. Their QB situation was almost as bad as Arizona's, Shonn Greene isn't that great. Santonio Holmes is not a #1 receiver. Dustin Keller is merely an average to above-average tight end. Their O-Line wasn't very good. As much as I admire Sean Payton, even he wouldn't have gotten a decent season out of that bunch.

I don't like him but that's just a personal thing......I don't know what kind of O line coach he is and how good he will be.
