Pak - you\'re absolutely right. Those guys are all great first round picks that worked out for the Saints. All SEVEN of them in our THIRTY FIVE year history. My point wasn\'t that the Saints, or any other team\'s talent scouts, couldn\'t pick a good one. It was that they are wrong about half the time. According to your list, it\'s a lot more than half.
As for what Saintz08 said - why not?! If Delhomme is really as effective according to the coaches, why not go out and try to pick up Bulger in the off season and then trade Brooks and his big salary to some one else. Then maybe we can get some talent on defense! |

Brooks trade bait ... LOL. If Randy Mueller was still here that just might be the case. I am not overly pleased with Brooks overall performance this year mainly because I do not see him being the weapon he has been touted as being and I am starting to see all those talking heads who last year said he would be something special starting to back off that a bit.
Brooks is a good QB in the NFL. He however is not doing anything special that 15 other QB\'s in the league would not be able to do on this same team full of weapons. Brooks MOST glaring asset is his throwing accuracy. He rarely ever misses his target and the receivers are always given a chance to make a play. Brooks is still learning. Remember last year he was throwing interceptions in the red zone. That has been eliminated this year. I hope next year he is able to develop POCKET Presence and STOP the back pedaling. |

And MY point, WHODAT, is that while you guys kick back in your recliners and gripe about AB as if the Job was so easy there are people out there paid to make the decision. No sure thing is truely sure, and low round picks sometimes shine.
I\'ve said it before and I\'ll say it again (I\'m takin the bait Saintz08), if Jake was so much better then he\'d be the starter. If Jake were so much better they wouldn\'t have given Brooks a new contract... You people need to get a new hobby. :casstet: |

Somebody explain to me what a talent scout does .
All the NCAA players go to the combine , those that do not have private showings . The combine is like the talent supermarket , all the coaches go and the GM\'s . A coach can tape all the Bowls and watch them in the off season . Did someone talent scout Beerman ?? No , he walked on . Does anyone know of a professional athlete that was signed from an obscure region where he was milking cows, and because this talent scout did his job he is now an NFL football player . Here is another one , someone pease tell me what this guy does . Greg Brown  Defensive Assistant/Quality Control Exactly what quality does he control ?? Is this the guy that tapes up the tackling dummies ??? I can read Mel Kipers report as well as those guys and I have a roll of duct tape , I want both their jobs and salaries ........ |

The combine is a big joke. If coaches want to know what a guy can do all they have to do is watch game film on him. The combine is the biggest flim-flam (well..one of the biggest) in the NFL. Like I said....watch a game or two and see what a guy can do. It ain\'t that hard to figure out. Want to know the skinny on a guy get Joel Buchsbaum\'s scouting report.

I want the jobs .
Mueller will probably follow his brother , so there is one opening . Quality control , I can handle that . I will be the first talent scout that scouts via the Black and Gold forum . We vote on draft picks , post players who are impressive . A true fans team ...... |

Two things:
1. A good talent scout goes and finds a little known receiver from Mississippi Valley State and signs him to a long-term contract (Jerry Rice in case you didn\'t know who I was talking about). Their main job is to look through the hype and truley judge a player based on his \"talent.\" To me that is natural ability, athleticism, potential, maturity, intelligence, and ability to grow as a player. 2. That leads me to Brooks. I don\'t think our scouts have done a great job of that with Brooks. Personally (and I could very well be totally wrong), I don\'t see Brooks getting much better than he is right now ever in his career. He will make some strides, but he will never truly be one of the top 5 or 10 quarterbacks in the league. That speaks to my point about Delhomme, which SaintFan doesn\'t seem to understand. I don\'t believe Delhomme is BETTER than Brooks. Brooks is more athletic and seemingly, and seemingly is the operative word in this statement, has more potential. However, I think Delhomme is smarter. I believe he would manage the offense better. He would make less stupid mistakes. That enables the team, as an offense, to get the ball into the hands of our true weapons more often. That will make us a better team overall. Furthermore, Delhomme is less expense and, again, in my opinion, has a better attitude than Brooks. My point as it comes to talent scouts is that they are not always right. I believe that they have made an error in judgment when it comes to Brooks. Delhomme, in my opinion, is a better choice for the Saints. But, like SaintFan said, I am sitting here typing this in my computer not making any decision for the Saints team. |

Whodat ... that is truly speaking from a fan perspective. How could you possibly think Delhomme is better than AB based on the limited amount of time you have seen Jake play? What do you have to base that opinion on?
I have only seen Jake play a very minute period of time and YES he does look proficient when he plays. I have not seen Jake play enough to base much of an opinion of him over AB BUT it is my opinion AB probably has better throwing accuracy than Jake. Is this just due to playing time? I don\'t know BUT I do know there is something keeping Jake off the field. In a league where coaches success is based on win vs losses I would find it very hard to believe a coach keeping a better player on the sidelines for any bogus reason. |

OK, let\'s really read the posts before we reply. I said, and will say again, I don\'t believe Delhomme is BETTER than Brooks. Look at my previous post. Read paragraph three. Make replies based on what I said, not what you think I said.
