. Anytime you change coaches and schemes you're rebuilding. Fixing this D is going to be tough. Getting the players and learning.the scheme,geling together is a tall order. The silver lining is we can be middling and with our offense stay in the hunt

we win 7 games with 2 different interim coaches and the worst defense we ever had...

I'm thinking with a competent defensive coordinator + Payton and we easily win 10+ games...

I don't want to put or hear about a particular number.
If we must, 9-7 . I am not being cynical.
SP coming back. His team has holes. New DF coach coming on board.
Saints will lose some games.
Saitns will win some games.
The lost games, ok, if there are factors such as both sides working. Good plays.
Pitiful loses are frustrating. No excuse for missing ,lets say, blocks, tackles. No man-to-man.

I dont think Spags was incompetent, I think the talent on D sucks ballz for anything to really work, its really no wonder why Gregg Williams blitzed so much.

He wasn't smart enough to alter his defense and make it work with the players...

At some point you gotta say: "Hey! This isn't working, let me try something a little different"

Given the cap issues and the personnel fit issues, not to mention the brutal schedule next season, who would want to set ANY level of expectation?

And Sean is spot-on. If the D isn't fixed (not to mention some adjustments in actually catching the damned ball), we will be looking at another short season next year.
