He reminds me on Ninkovich. We can't keep him on our roster for several years hoping he heals up and plays, but just our luck in two more years he'll be playing great for someone else.

Was Ninkovich's problem injuries? I thought he didn't see the field because he was a 3-4 OLB.

I keep reading from others that Galette fits as an OLB in the 3-4.

I'm not sure about that. The OLB requires similar cover skils as the SAM and WILL in a 4-3, don't they? I can't remember any games that required Junior to cover much at all.

Thoughts?

That is exactly what concerns me about him as well.

And I really do wonder if the Saints can afford to spend a roster spot on him, since he really doesn't fit any of the front 7 position in a 3-4 base, and he would more than likely only be a situational player like he has been in the past.

Exactly what I was thinking

I posted the other day that martez could be envisioned as an OLB in the 3-4 because he's played linebacker for years and has experience in coverage
whereas galette, not so much

I didn't watch many games this year because of the alleged "bounty" thing and the fact that I worked almost every day throughout the NFL season. I haven't seen the big difference between Wilson and Galette other than height. A quick look at stats on the team website shows that Galette had five sacks in twelve games while Wilson had 3 sacks in sixteen games. Galette had twenty tackles and Wilson had nineteen.

That's really all I have to go by.

That's really all I have to go by.

The thing is that Wilson has been playing the LB position his whole football career - until of course this past season - and he played both middle and outside LB for Illinois.

Now Galette has only played LB in high school, so he probably doesn't have the technique to play in coverage nor the understanding of what that entails from a football IQ and mental side of things.
