Re: Trade down?
This thread should have been called trade down with the words PLEASE in caps..... Unless one of the top pash rusher mistakenly drops into our laps I see no reason not to trade back, recoup a 2cnd. We should also be looking for trade value for some of the player who no longer fit our scheme and get picks that way because this draft is so defensively deep.

This draft "ES MUCHO IMPORTANTE" in determining if we can return to the BIG GAME in the next 2 to 3 years. Our defense has slowly disbanded since 2009 and not only do we have very little depth at some key positions, but some of our players are just plain getting old. And NO we do not need yet another middle linebacker, we have like 5. |

I look at the team, especially on offence as having a small window to get back to the superbowl. We need to make use of older veteran free agents to fill out certain spots as the cap room isn't getting better in the next couple of years from what I see.
The big question got me is do you keep Brees through the length of his deal or do you look to replace him in 2/3 years and trade him on for some high picks. Look at the deal the Bengals got for Palmer, those deals can set you up if you draft well. |
"Two receivers to the left, Garcon to the right. Manning in the shotgun, puts Collie in motion. Looks in his direction...it's picked off! It's picked off! It's Tracy Porter again! He's runnin' free! He's gonna go all the way!

Not sure how much value there is in trading down. 15 is no man's land. Expensive players but not elite at that position. 2 second round picks would be a stretch.

Trading down will likely only net us a late rounder or moving up in later rounds. Maybe a swap, we get someone's 2nd but have to give them our 3rd, etc etc... Draft picks are cheap and we'll be bumping the cap for several more years . We absolutely have to start drafting better. Free-agents are too expensive. We need cheaper talent... you get that in THE DRAFT!!!! |

Re: Trade down?
There were alot of promising defensive players at the senior bowl. I am sure Payton has a game plan in place.

Re: Trade down?
There is no reason to trade back.
I say stay put and keep with the program... draft best player available. We could use help on D sure but we also could use help on the O line as well. Snag a top 15 impact player or someone we can develop for the future. |

Re: Trade down?
Almost every team goes into the draft hoping the player they want can be had a few picks later and they can make a move down and add a late round pick or two for free and still get the guy you target. And it seldom happens.
Just draft the guy you want at each spot unless someone unexpected is falling. |
