Re: Rob Ryan's Defensive Fronts

Great links Saintsfan1976. I have a "Coaching the 46 Defense" book by Rex Ryan and it includes alot of input from Rob Ryan and Buddy Ryan.

It really breaks down in depth the responsibilities of each position on the defense, how each player runs each defensive call and the pre and post snap reads each player must make. It also explains the skill set required by each player.

I think we have a few in place that will fit well. Lofton, Jordan and Jenkins I think fit great. We have a few edge rushers than can fill the less exotic roles and our corners may be enough to deal with things. Our big issues are NT, depth overall on the d-line and the second safety, second ILB roles.

I love the x's and o's of defenses.

Terrance Knighton 6'3' / 336 / 26 - NT - Jags
He's among the best young run-stoppers in the league. played for league min last year and should be available at a cap friendly price. At 336 lbs. weight is going to be an issue but a change in clubhouses maybe just what he needs. getting replaced as a starter only helps save money.

Key addition to 34 is LB. If they can swing a veteran LB for 34 would go a long way to helping

draft look at 2 BPA to add depth anywhere on the line

Re: Rob Ryan's Defensive Fronts

Can Ryan fix this defense in 5 minutes, the amount of time he thought he would be out of work?
