David Nelson of the Bills is coming off an ACL tear suffered in Week 1, but he should be ready for the start of the season.
What would you think about bringing him on the Saints roster cheap for receiving depth? If the Saints do part ways with Devery, we are going to have Colston and Moore as the only players with deep playing experience. Morgan showed great potential at being a deep threat, but he's still learning. Toon is unproven. Nelson is still young, but had a pretty good 2nd year in 2011 with nearly 700 yards and 5 scores. He's a big target, and we know how Brees likes his taller receivers. He could probably be affordable, because he will have something to prove coming back from injury. Re: Possible receiver depth?
The former Florida Gators standout was expected to be tendered by the Bills, but now it looks like he will hit unrestricted free agency. Teams looking for a good possession receiver should go for Nelson, because he moves the chains very effectively from the slot. His price tag should come cheap due to the injury, and I don’t have much concern about the ACL tear.
Nelson is a receiver who builds his game on consistency, and teams in need of a very good No. 3 receiver or more production in the slot should go after the 6’5″, 26-year-old. Nelson has been recovering quickly from the injury, and he is expected to make OTAs. Buffalo Bills will not tender David Nelson - Musket Fire - A New England Patriots Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and more. 2. David Nelson, WR, Florida -- He elevated his draft stock at the Gators pro day, running 4.57 in the 40, with a 38-inch vertical leap and a broad jump of 10 feet, four inches. Though Nelson got overshadowed at times among all of Florida's playmakers, scouts are enamored with his 6-5 height and ability to use his 217 pounds to block and give his quarterback a big target. "He's a tough kid and a competitive kid,'' one NFL scout told me. "He's got rare height and he catches the ball well. He runs good routes and he's just crafty. He'll make someone's team.'' Re: Possible receiver depth?
Sarcasm or not, free agency hasn't even started, nor has the draft. The Saints will do what they have to do to make the defense better when those come around. However, if Sean Payton sees an opportunity to improve the offense and add depth, don't think he won't pull the trigger. With Mickey Magic working the cap issues, and the possibility to nab a player like this for cheap, then why not go for it? Veteran depth at the receiver position is going to be needed. One extra weapon at an offensive skill positions wouldn't hurt my feelings.

Re: Possible receiver depth?
The issue with our defense was Spags.... from what he learned in Dallas Ryan is the cure... Done deal.

Re: Possible receiver depth?
Ryan is the cure? i may not go that far but i think he will be testing players all over the field looking for impact rather than assigning them a position and expect the impact to happen .
now my liking is the fact this could be a very cap friendly move in a bad cap year. plus i am not sold on the wr depth still. the kid would give the saints yet another tall wr for drew to throw to |
