We can tender him a 2nd rounder at 2 million, but if no one bites he costs us 2 million. Our best bet is a ROFR tender at about 1.5 million, which means we can just match any offer he gets. If its too steep, we let him walk, but we don't get squat. |
Re: Cards to pursue Ivory?
Good luck staying healthy behind that OL!

Re: Cards to pursue Ivory?
2 million for probably half a season...no thanks. Even if the Saints had the cash it's not worth it.

I do wonder if his constant injuries are due to bring active one week then inactive the next.
Watch him go elsewhere and run for over 1000yards |
Re: Cards to pursue Ivory?
This stinks.

So we get squadoosh when he leaves. Which he will. Zero sum. |

Yeah Ivory is a beast but I don't think we need 4 backs anymore, and if hes not getting on the field or he's injured constantly then he's wasting a roster spot for a much needed defensive player Ivory is a hell of an RB, around mid way through last season Mark Ingram showed that he could go toe to toe with ivorys performance and ran with more purpose, Ingram is the future and as much Fun as Ivory is to watch, you get those 5-6 amazing plays and then 2 weeks on the sideline |

As far as I know they the Saints can decide to tender him at any level they want because he was an UDFA, so they could tender him high to force another team to match, but the danger there is that they'd have to honor that higher tender if no other team matched it. I don't know if a (artificially) higher tender would have an affect on the compensatory pick discussion, but with the restructures Loomis has been working on; I think the Saints are going after some FAs, so in the end the Saints probably end up gaining more from the FA pool than they lose to other teams... once again. |
Re: Cards to pursue Ivory?
We're damned if we do and damned if we don't with Chris. It's kind of like my drinking problem: two hands and only one mouth. We need too much in too many other areas to keep him. We have too many good backs to even pretend to tender and every other team knows that. All they gotta do is wait. All we can get for him is what he's already given us. On the upside, if the Cards do take him, they'll basically have a job share with him and Beanie Wells who also runs like a ton and a half truck and spends half the season on the bench. Their running game could turn just short of awesome. Not to worry though, Snake bit Andy has never been able to figure out that whole quarterback thing. His bad luck and dumb assed coaching decisions ain't gonna wash away in that Arizona sun. Arizona'd be a great place for Ivory to end up.

If you're referring to Andy Reid; he is HC on the Kansas City Chiefs. Bruce Arians is the HC of the Arizona Cardinals. Both are new to their positions, so I do understand the confusion. |
