An Analytical Approach to Harper, Smith and Vilma Contracts

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I don't think their numbers are correct. And its incredibly short-sighted to apply a 2012 value to our 2013 defense. Its apples to oranges. EVERY player on our 2012 defense would have a value slightly over vet minimum, except Bunkley, ...

And its incredibly short-sighted to apply a 2012 value to our 2013 defense. Its apples to oranges.

EVERY player on our 2012 defense would have a value slightly over vet minimum, except Bunkley, Galette and Jordan.

While its obvious to everyone that they need to re-structure, the entire premise of this analysis is flawed.

Smith and Vilma are entering that fantasy year of every players contract that they never see. They know it, their agent knows it and the team knows it.

I agree with Danno, and also the analysis doesn't recognize the carry over prorated dead money to 2014 on both Smith's and Vilma's contracts.

Yeah, and naturally I meant Smith's and Harper's contracts, not Vilma's.

Less than 24 hours until we have to be under the salary cap and I can't stop clicking refresh hoping to see what we do. Just cut Smith and Vilma already... Then restructure Harper's contract. I love Loomis and Payton, but damn man why do we have to wait so long and be so secretive about it?!
