Saints get a younger player, for less money and solve LT need. You would be betting that Austin could be as good as Sproles the way we use him. Then the Saints could use remaining picks on D Ilove Sproles and what he brings to the table but he is not getting any younger.

Thats pretty creative but I don't think losing sproles would be worth it.

Saints are being patient.

Or we can keep the pick and get the best LT on the board at 15 and keep Sproles. I don't know much about Saffold is he better than any guy we could get at 15?

You have to give something of value in a trade to get the other party to trade. Sproles would be hard to give up.But Austin hopefully would be up to filling the role Sproles plays in our scheme. And would fill a need at a crucial position.I wouldn't consider trading Sproles without having s player Like Austin.

Some people have a hard on to fix things that are not broken.

You do not give up a known top producer on a "hopefully".

Your trade scenario just cost you 1.5M in dead money from the get go.
savoyk and Seer1 like this.

There's not going to be much in the way of trading of anything other than draft picks and Ivory. With our cap space issues, our dead money issues and the cap space issues of a few of our competitors, we'll wait until the after the draft releases and not be sending many of our personnel anywhere. Although if we do send Sproles off, maybe we should throw Brees in as well. We could probably get a second round pick for the pair...

I bet we could get a 3rd for Payton.

Re: How about tbis trade scenario ?

There won't be a tackle available worth a top 15 pick! Only ones worth that pick are Johnson, Fisher, and Joeckel! The only one that has a shot at falling is Johnson and he won't fall past Arizona or definitely San Diego! So we will find a playmaker not a play protecter! I believe Austin would probably be the only offensive player Sean and Mickey will consider at 15 since they have so much talent on the defensive side of the ball in this draft! Especially what we need secondary and pass rush!
