There are no other words to describe this debacle. At best we are looking at a repeat of last year. Sure you can always use this to spark the rest of the season but when its just this bad, how can you bounce back.

Demoralizing defeat.
How can a below average Seahawks D-line and an LB corps of backups keep Deuce from running wild?! :mad2:

Euphoria - what an inappropriate name. No matter - you were feeling high when you cose that name - whenver THAT was.
I have sat and listened to very snap; and I have been throughly bored since the 2nd quarter by the uninspired aand at times seemingly reckless football. When you ONLY have 16 games to make an impression - to lose so easily in one game is BIG. It is not like baseball where you have zillions (or is it 160-something) to play. We lost this game really early.. which staggers me when the Saints are a team in a professional sport. :casstet: Ho-hum. I will be doing somethiong constructive soon; like ironing. C\'est la vie. I will be back - as happy as pie when we win. Hope it is soon! |

Hey themightyduck; I know you did not say it - but it was not all Deuce that did not make the yards.
The funny thing (sarcasm) is that the organisation will probably say we held in there, we did not get the breaks, and did a good job. Hey everyone - I am not being suicidal ok. I am very VERY disappointed. |

Whether this defeat was a good thing or a bad thing depends on coaching at this point (which likely means it will be a bad thing).
Everyone\'s all hype about how this year is going to be it, there have been changes, we have talent coming out our ears, etc. A loss could be a good thing IF the coaches can get people to see that simply changing the locker room environment is NOT what a change is, a change happens when people internalize those changes. The players neet to HEAR and ACT as though they are a new team - they need to make it happen. Also, the D didn\'t look too shabby. There is lots to build on there - they can be \"moralized\" by this game. The O on the other hand needs to start taking football seriously; they need to get behind the game plan (even if it isn\'t to some of their liking). |

Demoralizing defeat.
If we truly do have any real chance of making a run at the playoffs this year, now is the time to make a stand. By that, I mean that Haz MUST get his team motivated to play up to their ability.
Today was mediocre at best, disgusting at worst. There can be no acceptable excuse for playing so poorly across the board with as much talent as the SAINTS say they have (and we know that there is talent there). You can\'t blame it on the refs, NFL officiating is pretty fair, by and large. You can\'t blame it in field conditions or the turf (we consistentrly have among the best playing conditions in the league). You can\'t blame it on lack of support (we have some of the most supporting, diehard fans in the country). You can\'t blame it on scheduling (year after year our schedule is rarely no softer or harder than most other teams). And, you can\'t blame it on lack of talent (the SAINTS have bragged time and again about how deep their talent is and how dominant they should be). What does this leave as the problem? On whom or what should the blame be laid? Coaching!!! When Haz surround himself with a staff that fails to direct his team properly or motivate them to win at least the games that they should, the he is to blame for its failure and that of his staff. If a general consistently lost battles to inferior forces, losing lives unnecessarily, he would be replaced, if not court martialed. But, unfortunately in football, that does not happen nearly enough. I truely believe that if you took this same team and put them under the coaching staff already in place in at least half of the other NFL cities, you would see a marked improvement in performance and a winning record. But this is just my opinion. Go SAINTS, David in Houston |

Ahhh my name comes from a music compulation by the great Rock band Def Leppard obviously it has nothing to do with the Saints. I trust you wasn\'t trying to be insulting are anything...
I think the blame is on everyibe, To wait this long to see the problems, first game of the season, you have to get off to a great start and right out of the gates we flop BIGTIME. No Sacks, with all the hype I suspected we would get 2. 21 points and the Hawks ease up on us. Out special teams was the only bright side to this game. Watson did look good. I guess we will have to wait and see how the boys rebound and the rest of the season plays out but its not getting off to a good start. |

Demoralizing defeat.
The demoralizing part is the fact that Hasbeen has in his infinite stupidity , decided to render the most productive part of the offense in past seasons totally useless by removing the lead blocker for Duece .Combined with the fact that in doing so he provided Brooks with another receiving option that he could not utilize .The sad part is that the wheels came off the wagon against a team that notoriously plays horrible games on the road .....

Hey Euphoria
Like me; you are very fed-up by Game 1. And all I gotten since the game is more fed-up; now that I have seen how other teams do basic stuff well. I really need the 49ers game now \'cos waiting is hell. |

Demoralizing defeat.
Well, I probably am saying this too early, but I\'m starting to lose hope for the Saints reaching 8-8. With the way the coaches put this game plan together, I wouldn\'t be surprised if the Saints lose to Arizona.
This is what I think Haslett will do this week in practice: 1) Make practices even more intense. 2) Clamp down even harder on his locker room rule. 3) Try to push his authority over the players to new heights. So high, in fact, that players will begin to dislike him and will soon start asking for his firing by mid-season. (This is, of course, a worst case scenario.) For every game he loses, he\'ll become more intense in practice. He knows that this season will be the deciding one, and he can\'t afford another embarassing loss like the one today. |
When it comes to discussing Saints losses, Jack Daniels can be a great listener.
