I don't know about the recession side of things. Most if not all teams are still going to spend majority of the cap space available to them, and since the cap is tied to the overall amount of profit the league makes, I don't see the overall dollar amounts available for player salaries going down drastically. Actually, the cap should keep increasing with the TV deal money being added to the overall league profit in the coming years.
