Well using that philosophy the only talent changes will be via free-agent signings.

With the additions of Lewis, Butler, Coleman and Leonhard there are probably 30 teams that haven't improved as much talent wise as we have so I'm not getting your point.

Haha, don't forget McKown's in the mix too! Seriously though, I like that Coleman's name was mentioned. Don't be too quick to discount his rather large presence when talking about the front four -oops three.

Re: Training Camp Battles

Battles I'll be watching
Defense
#2 CB Greer vs. Robinson
DE Smith vs. Coleman vs. Hicks
NT Bunkley vs. Hicks
#2 ILB Hawthorne vs. Vilma
OLB Butler vs. Wilson vs. Gallette

Offense
#3 WR Toon vs. Morgan
OT Smith vs. Brown
#2 QB Wallace vs. McCown

All that before the draft! Should be interesting!

I'll leave position competition up to Payton.... It's the off-season, so I'm studying the cheerleader competitions.

Re: Training Camp Battles

I want to see some pressure put on Garrett Hartley in camp. I think Jason Hanson could be a great addition, to fill that Carney/Kasay role of kicker-waiting-on-the-couch to come in, when Hartley screws up, and have him either jump in and take over or else coach him up a little bit. Hanson would be ideal for that "pushing him and mentoring" role, like Carney did when Hartley was actually kicking his best.

You're aware that Jason Hason retired, right? And stated that he's had heel problems.

Did not know about the heel problems. I knew he'd retired, but figured that retired kickers (without heel problems) can un-retire pretty quick if they get a call with the right offer, while they're on the couch. The reason I liked him was because, other than the emo freakshow of Hartley, Payton does tend to like older kickers, there is some precedent there.
