TAKING OFFENSE For Aaron Brooks, one of the toughest parts of the game is the treatment he gets from dissatisfied Saints fans Sunday, September 12, 2004 By Jeff Duncan Staff writer After all Aaron Brooks has been through with New Orleans Saints fans -- the boos, the second-guessers, the critical losses, the hate mail -- he still can manage a smile as he ponders three years as a starting quarterback in the National Football League. It took a while to reach this point. Along the way, there was much consternation to stomach and significant heartache to endure. http://www.nola.com/search/index.ssf...?nola#continue I actually agree with part of this. First off, I am a white male. So don't think I'm playing a race card. I do think Brooks makes his share of mistakes. But to think if we didn't have him, how worse off we would be. The guys stats are great, and yes, I'm aware of the fumbles which do suck. However, it's the team's fault we lose, not Aaron's. During the game yesterday, the line collapsed immediately, and sacked Brooks. Right off the back, some moron in the crowd "Brooks, you suck!!! ect, ect". I forgot, Aaron's supposed to block the D-line before he goes through his reads and delivers the ball. He was also forced to throw the ball away a number of times. Would we fans rather he just chunk it into coverage for the INT? I guess we could yell at the guy either way. It's just hurtful to think that in this day and age, this man is receiving hate/racist mail, when I know he's going into that game and trying his hardest. Keep smiling Aaron. |

I think Brooks did great.. I always cheered for him until he began the fumbles last year. There is the one thing a great QB needs that he lacks though is leadership.. But the thing that haunts him the most is his offensive coordinater. McCarthy puts the whole offensive in a bad situation.

Wow. Brooks leading a team to the Super Bowl. I\'d love to see that happen...
Am I the only one who believes that Brooks once did have massive potential, but it was squandered by a certain bonehead offensive coordinator who couldn\'t design a system to bring out his true abilities? It just seems that after 2000 he\'s never really changed. He started out very young and with a huge upside (he was a Favre backup y\'know). The reason I believe Brooks isn\'t an elite quarterback is simply because he wasn\'t coached well. What do you think would\'ve happened to him if someone like Bill Parcells or Bill Belichick coached him? |
When it comes to discussing Saints losses, Jack Daniels can be a great listener.
