Why Brooks has to go...
Brooks sucks, and it has nothing to do with race, or talent. Brooks can throw a ball a long way, but he is not a leader. A team needs a leader, and Brooks is not that.
Delhomme is less talented than Brooks, but if football has taught us anything, it's that heart can multiply talent. It still bothers me that we chose Brooks over Jake. Yes, the talented offensive line wasn't that great. Yes, our very talented recievers dropped some balls. Yes, very talented McAllister had a sub par performance. They were all uninspired. Everyone that should have been supporting Brooks didn't. Why? Brooks supporters are quick to point out that it's not Brook's job to block or catch, or run routes. It's not even his job to inspire those to do so. They get paid to do that, and they are professionals. But a winning quarterback WILL inspire his team and provide passion and will and guts if he wants to be on a championship team. Brooks was shown on the sidelines all throughout the game, with a smile on his face, hands crossed, looking like he didn't have a care in the world. After the game, he was walking around smiling, and joking with Seattle players. An appropriate quote from Vince Lombardi: "Show me a good loser, and I'll show you a loser". |
