Idk but do we need Lattimore any? We have addressed some our biggest needs already at DT, LT, and SS. What's next to address? Maybe a receiver?

ivory is gone so RB in FA yet again?

lee909 04-26-2013 10:13 PM

Re: 2013 LIVE DRAFT THREAD

Probably
Couple I like

Montel Harris, RB, Temple
Height: 5-8. Weight: 208.
40 Time: 4.68.
Projected Round (2012): 7-FA.
4/23/13: Harris averaged 5.7 yards per carry in 2012 as he picked up 1,054 yards and 12 touchdowns on 186 carries. Harris had a record-setting game against Army with 351 yards and seven touchdowns. Making it through the season healthy was big for Harris. He didn't impress at the Combine.

8/16/12: After a rough 2011 season lost to injury, Harris was dismissed from Boston College's program. He considered the NFL Supplemental Draft before landing with Temple to play one more year of college football.

Harris missed the first three games of the 2011 season due to his rehabilitation from knee surgery. He only played in two games all season. Harris ran for 108 yards on 22 carries against Wake Forest. He was injured again and didn't play after Week 5.

Previously, Harris had been a workhorse who had logged a lot of yards and a lot of wear-and-tear. He ran for 1,242 yards and eight touchdowns with an average of 4.6 yards per carry as a junior in 2010. He also logged 18 receptions for 112 yards and a touchdown.

Harris ran for 1,457 yards and 14 scores in 2009, averaging 4.7 yards per carry. He ran for 900 yards with an average of five yards per carry and five scores in 2008, his first season.

Dennis Johnson, RB, Arkansas
Height: 5-9. Weight: 213.
Projected 40 Time: 4.54.
Projected Round (2013): 6-FA.
4/23/13: Johnson had 757 yards on 137 carries (5.5 average) and eight touchdowns in 2012. He caught 25 passes for 160 yards and two scores as well. Johnson gradually earned more playing time over Knile Davis.

8/16/12: Johnson took over the starting running back position after Knile Davis was lost for the 2011 season. Johnson ran for 670 yards (6.3 average) with three touchdowns. He showed nice receiving ability too, making 24 catches for 255 yards and two touchdowns.

Johnson lost his 2010 season to injury. He has been one of the best kick returners in the SEC every year he has played. Johnson has averaged 24.3 yards per return in his career, scoring three touchdowns. He will split carries with Davis in 2012, but Johnson could be a potential third-down back and special teams contributor in the NFL. He figures to be a backup to Davis this season.

Michael Ford*, RB, LSU
Height: 5-10. Weight: 215. Hand: 9.08.
40 Time: 4.50.
Projected Round (2013): 6-FA.
4/23/13: Ford ran for 392 yards on 71 carries (5.5 average) with three touchdowns in 2012. The Tigers continued to employ a big variety of running backs, so it was hard for any of them to really standout. At the Combine, Ford ran well with a faster than expected 40.

8/16/12: Ford ran for 756 yards and seven touchdowns last season. The rotation with Ware hurts Ford's production. He barely led the team in rushing, and the Tigers had three backs go over 500 yards on the ground.

Sometimes we don't get things. I can tell you this, with three rounds of draft down, there is a reason they are still there. You and I may not know why, but professionals for 32 teams do...

I have to go with the professionals.

Just couldn't believe the Saints played it "safe" with Vaccaro - I just don't understand drafting a safety in the first round with five career interceptions; then there really isn't that much separation within the position group; and there's some great safeties to be had in the latter rounds...

Get the argument that Vaccaro was so good that people didn't throw his way - but where are the forced fumbles, the interceptions, the sacks?!?

He's not the game changer that you'd expect to select at that point of the draft...

We need overall team speed as well as versatility (especially with the Saints' salary cap dilemma) and Ogletree was a great player and a great solution as he could have played all four linebacker spots...

It's not about being right, it's just that he was the right player for the Saints to draft at that moment and instead, we've got another first round project...

The third round looked better, though I can't believe we weren't able to polish Ivory up for anything better than a fourth...

If Ivory makes the probowl or is a top four RB in the AFC - I think serious criticism and consequences should be brought to bare on Loomis and the Personnel People for the Saints...

These drafts just seem like "lazy @$$ effort" by the Saints Front Office...

If we can round the draft out well today it could be a very good class.
Cant say i liked going with Armstead but better minds than mine seem to think he is the man.Anyone else notice how completely ignored we seem to be by the media. The trade back into the 3rd was completely ignored so they could talk patriots.
Im still p1ssed we lost that second rounder as this draft with Jamie Collins added would have looked pretty good.Im hoping Poyer or Case Thomas fall. Some good players still here in the 4th

We were afraid you were arrested for standing outside, screaming on your front lawn. I was pissed about the Vaccaro thing too, but I got to thinkin' about how he could shake up the entire backfield and came to peace with it. Especially now we have an OT and DT on the list. I'll withhold judgement on these guys until at least the end of training camp.

Bucs traded up

Re: 2013 LIVE DRAFT THREAD

So wait...did Ivory sign a 3yr/3mil contract with the Jets? If so that makes me feel like the deal we got might not have been all that good if he was willing to sign that cheap. I do like the picks so far but still believe that we gave up too much to trade back for a player that I truly believe would have been there in the 4th for one of the two picks we had.

It he 5th I'm hoping for a CB and a playmaker WR/return guy in the 6th.

Well, my opinion was already turning on Okafor as I also don't think he'd actually be a good fit for the 3-4, so I'm not that disappointed with him gone.
