I think he takes Harper's place but not this year, I think it's NEXT year or even 2015 when Harper's contract is done. With the exception of Reggie Bush and Jimmy Graham, the Saints have a pretty consistent history of NOT throwing rookies into the fire, unless forced into the lineup by injury. That includes the sparing use of Ingram during his first year which had everybody mystified. I bet our first year's look at this guy is going to be watching him chase down kick returns on special teams, just like they did with Patrick Robinson and Malcolm Jenkins. But I like the pick, I'm just not expecting miracles from him right out the gate.

Payton is on record saying how he loves that KV is very versatile and actually played a lot of nickel in college, how they had to go back and dig up tape on him actually playing safety etc..., so an added answer to this poll should be "neither" or at least "nobody's job this year."

So lemme get this straight, Harper and Jenkins were placed in a zone scheme that required both of them to play deep a lot. Many thouhgt it was a good fit for Jenkins, but not a good fit for Harper (including your's truly)

And when the season ended Harper ended up being graded better than Jenkins, even though Spags scheme wasn't friendly to traditional SS's and certainly didn't play to Harper's strengths, while it did play toward Jenkins' strengths.

And everyone apparently thinks Harper's spot is the one Vacarro is gonna take?

Come on Danno, you seemed shocked. You know he's the whipping boy of the secondary... that's not suddenly going to change.

We should ease the young man in... if he beats out someone, then he deserves it. If he's going to replace anyone, make him earn it.
