Mike Detillier's Rankings of our UDFAs we signed....

Really like his information and he had very good draft insight that seemed in my opinion spot on in his 2013 Draft Report:

We knocked it out the park.

Mike D's Draft Report's Rating Scale:
20.00-19.30 Early to mid 1st Round
19.29-18.85 Late 1st or Early 2nd
18.84-17.80 2nd Round or Early 3rd
17.19-17.30 Late 3rd or 4th round
17.29-16.95 Late 4th or 5th Round
16.94-15.50 6th or Early 7th Round Pick
15.49-14.10 7th Round Pick
14.09 and Under Free Agent Status

Chase Thomas OLB 17.70 (#14 ranked OLB)
Kevin Reddick ILB 17.70 (#6 ranked ILB)
Eric Martin DE 17.35 (#18 ranked DE but has him projected as 3-4 OLB)
Ryan Griffin QB 17.05 (#12 ranked QB)
Rod Sweeting CB 16.54 (#39 ranked CB)
Keavon Milton TE 16.41 (#26 ranked TE)
Ryan Lacy CB 16.40 (#52 ranked CB)
Josh Hill TE 16.35 (#32 ranked TE)
Ray Shipman OLB 16.30 (#45 ranked OLB)
Shawne Alston FB 16.25 (#15 ranked FB)
Elliot Mealer, Glenn Foster, Tim Lelito all unranked.

Here's how our draft picks rated:
Kenny Vaccaro FS 19.22 (#1 ranked FS)
Terron Armstead OT 18.09 (#7 ranked OT)
John Jenkins DT 18.85 (#8 ranked DT)
Kenny Stills WR 18.02 (#16 ranked WR)
Rufus Johnson unranked (This one is only one I questioned obviously...lol...don't know why he wasn't ranked?)

Other than not rating Johnson looks like Mike D was very high on our draft-he seems to be one of the more well respected draft analysts as far as I can tell...his draft reports have been well received the last few yrs.

Re: Mike Detillier's Rankings of our UDFAs we signed....

I been saying all along the only questionable draft picks I've wondered about in the last few yrs is Patrick Robinson and Mark Ingram! Now PR was my main 1 I didn't like but he was pubbed by all the media guys and scouts! Ingram on the other hand I didn't question the player just the how he was going to fit in a multiback system when he is a power rythym back who shines in the 2nd half so he needs alot of touches he's not a HR hitter he is more of a Emmit Smith type of runner! Now as far as where they drafted him it to was an absolute steal but the fit wasn't as good as say maybe if he went to Pittsburgh or Somewhere that they run a power playaction scheme where he can be a feature back and get 20-25 touches a game! Now I get why they did it because 1. He was the highest rated player in the entire draft by alot of analyst, 2. We had a health issue "Ivory and Thomas" and contract issues "Bush" with our RBs so I get it the top rated guy was still there at 25 and u were having issues at that same position, but I bet given another shot at it they wouldn't have panicked or spontaneously drafted because of the value without properly evaluating the fit for that player. All that being said we still have a heck of a talent that could break loose and get his touches he needs to have success! Ingram will have alot of success as soon as he gets his consistent carries and touches! He has to feel his way to find the D's weaknesses and holes to run through, he is a total bruiser who imposes his will and power on opposing defenses and their gameplan! I know he can get it done if healthy and called on!

agreed and would add the need for adjustments on OL to provide the power blocking he needs.

i have the feeling the depth chart got a very big shot in the arm it needed with this group. Special teams should see a biggest improvement right away.

These UDFA LBs has me really excited. If just one of them can be a solid contributer it would be great.

I have to agree! When I saw we traded up to the 1st rd I was like "sweet!!!" Finally an impact linebacker! Then they say "Mark Ingram" and I was like WTF?!?!?

Just like this past weekend in the 3rd when we got a trade up I was like "Okafor!!!" But we just drafted Johnathon Sullivan's twin...Georgia and everything...

So you're saying we DON'T need a 346lb man anchoring the center of a 3-4 defense??

Re: Mike Detillier's Rankings of our UDFAs we signed....

Rufus Johnson wasn't ranked because there are just too many College players to evaluate and rank all of them. Most of the players in the draft were truly scouted by 1-2 people and the rest of the media, and experts, just evaluated someone elses scouting report.

Why else does everyone go off of the combine and not true on the field play.. its just too much. So you get someone like Chase Thomas that didnt put up an expected 40 yd time and now he is ours. The people that truely scouted his on the field play saw him going somewhere between the 3rd and the 6th .
