Clearly the Saints got lucky. However they got screwed on the long pass to Curtis Conway down at the one. He pushed off, pure and simple. Instead of a taunting penalty the ball should have gone back to the original line of scrimmage and yardage walked off. But nooooo!
The refs also blew a call when Fred Thomas blitzed and his head was nearly ripped off. Why that wasn\'t called holding is beyond me. It\'s seems obvious that this year the refs are gonna screw up games with interference calls instead of holding calls like they\'ve done in the past. No matter. I live in Northern California (amidst the 49er \"faithful\") and beating them this way or any way works for me. I remember about 10 years ago when Jerry Rice spiked the ball five yards outside the endzone on a long pass and the refs let it stand. I don\'t remember too many Niner fans complaining about that one and, if I\'m not mistaken, the Saints lost that game by less and 7 points. So I\'ll take this win. However, McCarthy\'s playcalling is pathetic. He\'s capable of killing a drive just as easily as a stupid penalty by a player. And Haslett needs to understand that while many of his players are screwing up out there he\'s the one who put them there. I\'ve never heard him once say anything like, \"Yeah this guy\'s a pretty good player. We\'re glad to have him. But he makes stupid mistakes.\" Clearly, Haslett, his coaching staff and perhaps his scouts are poor judges of football talent. In the years since he\'s been head coach we\'ve heard him give excuses/criticism about draft choices, excuses/criticism about players that have come to New Orleans in trades and excuses/criticism about free agents. Now \"our best players are making mistakes\". Well, with all due respect to Mr. Haslett, perhaps those players have been making mistakes their entire careers, other coaches knew that and that\'s why they ended up with this organization. The players are not without blame. But Haslett and Co. are the ones who brought them here. |

I\'ll say it again. The players have no respect for the coaching staff. You can see it in the way they play. They don\'t play as a team. They\'re 11 men on a football feild wearing the same color of shirts!
