There is a subtle difference between expected and expected...

I expect the Saints defense will be better this year (speculative conjecture).
I expect my drove home to take as long as it does every day. (educated guess)

It's a little bit different leadership style than Vilma.
He needs to remember that this was only a scrimmage. Things are going to speed up and the only way to keep up is to study film and do whatever it takes to get better.
