this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; IF it's Lance Moore, we have to have a third round pick and Parys Haralson in return - and making that deal with a possible opponent in the NFC Championship game is not gonna happen......

Trading Lance Moore isn't a good idea what so ever. Be patient and lets see what we look like without Smith. I'm sure we'll look much better.

If SF is really trying to trade OLB Parys Haralson then Denver and New Orleans should go for it.. |

The idea for the position swap between the two teams certainly makes sense... but I think we're overvaluing the pick necessary to facilitate a trade. We're talking about a guy that has been trending downward even before missing all of 2012... and that is their 7th LB'er on their depth chart(5th option at OLB) which essentially regulates him to special teams. |

Re: 49er's shopping Parys Haralson
There's NO WAY I could see us giving up Lance Moore for this guy! ??
What is everyone thinking?? He had a tricept injury last season and was out. On his return he can only make 3rd string? They expect to use him as a general backup? Lance Moore is our hands production guy who just landed a contract last year. Only way I see a trade with him is for a starter or solid second string backup pushing a starter. There's just no way we would do that. It would be a blunder. And who would replace our go-to hands guy? Colston is strong, but is a slow starter every season, picks up steam at the halfway mark of the season and does not have the hands Lance Moore has! |

Re: 49er's shopping Parys Haralson
There are plenty of scenarios for the trade, and while value vs value is how you always go into any negotiation, in the end the most needy will flinch.
"Need" comes into it at some time and this is just the situation to flush out exactly how our FO feels about our situation. If we go after him we are needy, if we sit and watch, we are fairly ok. What we give will show exactly how desperate we are or are not. The waiting game is all we as fans can do. As you pointed out Papz SFs 6th string LB is someone else's starter. Last Sunday I put my old BBQ pit at the road for the trash, I went back to the back yard to grab bags of clippings and by the time I was at the curb the old pit was gone.... One mans trash is another mans treasure. |

Re: 49er's shopping Parys Haralson
Can't disagree with any of that. I just wouldn't want us to make the mistake of overpaying for a guy just because he plays linebacker for the 49ers. When we're talking mid round value, it should be for a solid contributor. He's had one pretty good season in 2008 and has gradually declined since.
Parys Haralson Stats - San Francisco 49ers - ESPN That doesn't look like someone that is worth mid round value... at least right now coming off a missed season. I read a different message board post the other day and a guy picked up a BGE off the side of a road and all that was wrong with it was that it was missing a wheel and a handle. That wasn't you was it? |

49er's shopping Parys Haralson
No LOL those things are quality and the important parts are either easily replaced or don't wear out. Frikken NASA ceramics.
What I discarded had the vitals rust out. The stats are not fantastic, but I'm not sure I would be looking for a difference maker..... Enough speed and football IQ to cover what short passes Smith couldn't would be a net gain. I feel we are pretty solid or as solid as we need to be against the run for the most part. |

Re: 49er's shopping Parys Haralson
We're going to end up cutting receivers that could start for other teams. They're going to cut an outside linebacker that they think could start for other teams.
Seems like a pretty simple trade could be worked out. |

Re: 49er's shopping Parys Haralson
I'm on the "I'm-good-with-what-we-have" crew...I'm a little jaded regarding trades within the division, and that includes the OLD division. SF can't be trusted, regardless of how deep they are. The timing of this shopping of an OLB with W Smith's injury is simply bad-form by SF...it's like selling a $1 beer outside of an AA meeting then selling the next one for $50. $1 beer looks good but there's a catch and you have a need that can be exploited. I'm pretty sold with the LBs we have...they have played solidly for folks learning a new system. Have them continue to learn together and get better. Our D can be average or slightly below considering the O is being run be the REAL coach.
