Re: Khiry Robinson has to make the team, he's just gotta
I don't think this thread should be KR vs Ingram. It was supposed to be about Khiry making the team.
Talking about the Ingram point, we are a worse off team without him, period. |
Re: Khiry Robinson has to make the team, he's just gotta
I happen to think that there's no conspiracy or symbolism or hidden meaning, to why Ingram was in there. Who cares how it "looks."
I think that Ingram was getting reps in the 4th preseason game for the most part because, SOMEBODY has to suit up and run the ball. Pierre is coming off an injury, Sproles is kinda delicate, Sproles is in his prime and we want to have his career extended as long as possible. Cadet and Robinson got the majority of carries as you would expect. I assumed that the reason Ingram was in there a lot of the time, was because of all the roster "locks" at RB, he was relatively healthy, sturdy, and the youngest. I also noticed that when Pierre was in the game in the first half, they were usually only giving him the ball on like, 3rd down and 2 type situational stuff, so he'd pick up the first down, so they could keep the ball and run more plays. So most of the time it was like, running plays with other people, looking at other things, then suddenly "oh we need a first down here" and they'd predictably give it to Pierre, who would blast through the 2nd stringers and get what we needed. |

Robinson couldn't get all the carries, evidenced by the fact he tossed his cookies yet again in the 2nd half. Whats up with that? Nerves? We needed someone to help. PT got a couple, Ingram got a few and even both FB's got a carry. One could just as easily theorize that since PT only got 2 carries that the staff has no confidence that he can carry the load and stay healthy. Or one can speculate that Ingram stepped up and said "I'll gladly help coach", while PT and Sproles kept quiet because they're selfish players. We can play this game all day long. |
Re: Khiry Robinson has to make the team, he's just gotta
I think we are all in agreement that someone had to be in the game carrying the ball. Heck, I wouldn't care if Ingram was in the game with seconds left to play. My issue is what he did with the ball. He doesn't play for the knucklehead Bengals. These are the Saints and we should hold our guys to a higher standard. I personally felt embarrassed after the play. The
same kind of embarrassment I felt after joe Morgan's off the the field mess. Or Reggie Bush taunting players in the '06 NFCC game. All I'm saying is that we probably wouldn't see Khiry Robinson( player trying to make the team) do that on the field. That looked bad, not the fact that he was on the field. |
