While I agree that at this price he would be benificial, we need to use the roster spot for a linebacker. We can bring the Meachums and Hendersons of the world in if there is an injury. I dont get this move. I never cared much for him anyway.

Colston, Moore, Stills, Toon, Meachem, Graham, Watson, Sproles, Thomas, Ingram, and Brees.

It's also not immediately clear what role Meachem will play with the Saints now that young backup receivers Kenny Stills and Nick Toon have emerged as players who look ready to make an impact. But it makes perfect sense for the Saints to at least try and recapture the chemistry that existed when Meachem was a part of their offense from 2007-11.

My guess is they won't try to force him into the mix right away -- as long as their top four receivers stay healthy. But the Saints know they can depend on Meachem if they need a replacement at some point. And in the meantime, if he starts to regain his prime form, then maybe he'll force their hand.
