Strief looks real bad, getting off-balance often, he looks like the worst wrestler in a Sumo D league...

DeLaPuente seems to be regressing and unlike former Center Jon Goodwin, gets overmatched often...

Strief has graded out as nearly our best O-lineman this year. Brown has done OK, not great but certainly not awful.

DLP? I agree, he looks like the weak link.

Evans has actually been our worst O-lineman, but thats 100% due to playing injured in my opinion.

A healthy Evans would solidify that interior.

Re: I'm afraid we're in trouble.

O-Line performance is weighted heavier on "Unit cohesion and performance as a unit" than individual strengths and weaknesses. You could pull the top 5 offensive lineman and if they do not play well as a unit there will be issues.

Our O-Line issues this season are more about having made changes than what changes were made.

its 1500+ lbs of synchronized swimming.

Strief may grade out well, but he looks so slooow when decent speed rushers shift to his side and blow by him; now, is he getting points for those 'look out' blocks I've seen?

Brown has been called for holding in every game, well maybe not the Bucs game, but I think the ref called that on Evans in error because Brown ws definitely holding though Evans clearly wasn't and analysts questioned as much...; certain plays linger in my mind, like Drew's awful interception against the Bucs made more awful by Brown's attempt to stop the return...

Grubbs? Dude got thrown like a toy in the MNF Miami game; and for what he's contracted, he should be doing the throwing...

DLP worked his tail off to get here and is either injured (not reported) or is in a "I'm just happy to be here" mode which is good for traveling church choir attitudes but Not For Long in the NFL...

Do Agree with regards to the Evans injury and his very competent backup's Leilito's injury having a significant effect; but we put two offensive linemen on IR to start the season so who's gonna cry them a river?!?

Is it too late to trade Mark Ingram to the Rams (where he'd be a better fit) for Barrett Jones?!?

You and I both liked Jones in the middle rounds didn't we. I think we look at a stud center for 2014, either FA or early rounds in the draft. Imagine a player like Pouncey playing center flanked with Grubbs/Evans ?

Won't work, the Flying Wedge was outlawed decades ago...

Interior Line is definitely a priority as I think 8mil is 6mil too much for guard(s) so I'd geaux Rookie Uber-Guards that still want to run block, especially when we've got the 16.3mil Tight End Contract coming...

Ever scouting report I've read on Jones talks about his smarts and personality - he'd be the modern day Art "Fatso" Donovan and would study and call the blocking assignments under a Payton/Brees Tutelage...now that intrigues my football brain like Isla Fisher (Wedding Crashers) would intrigue other parts of my brain...

I am too proud of out team to pick against them... Would have helped your argument a bit had you come to that realization before the game...

It would help against the Pats. But, gut check tells me we are going to be OK without it. I still WANT a running game though.

Well the running game actually got going when we needed it - then we abandoned it?!?

D'oh!

Yeah, I thought that was odd ... you can't leave Brady with a minute on the clock ... EVER. I still wasn't that panicky until Keenan Lewis had an opportunity to keep the Patriot receiver inbounds on the last drive and run a few more seconds off the clock, but seemed to pull him out of bounds to stop the clock.

It was a good test and a learning experience ... it'll keep the boys humble and focused.

Chins up, no shame.

:)

Re: I'm afraid we're in trouble.

Well, to pick up on the discussion on the previous thread, aside from the Saints not being among the league/zebra favorables...

Jahri Evans seems to be getting his groove back...

But, we still can't run on the left side, we're still holding on the left side...

and I didn't think anyone could look worse than Zach Strief in footwork(God Bless him), but Charles Brown was awful yesterday...

Brees seemed rattled checking over his blindside often causing him to miss open receivers in his reads progression...

The sting of games continued with another hold penalty...

And there were the "Lookout" Blocks...

How soon till Armstead is ready or is he going to be an athletic Right Tackle?!?

Payton said at the beginning of the season he was losing sleep with regards to the Left Tackle position, which begs the question:

Did that factor into Payton's end-game playcalling and Brees inablity to gain his rhythm as well?!?

Re: I'm afraid we're in trouble.

I thought the O-line did Ok, there was some hiccups, but for the most part, they gave Brees plenty of time and were opening up some running lanes. I forget at which point in the game they posted the stats for QB sacks/hurries, but they were pretty lopsided in favor of the Saints/Drew ... I think Brady had something like 5 sacks to Drew's 1 and the pressure was on Brady far more then Drew all night, IMO.

Re: I'm afraid we're in trouble.

So now that we finally lost one, are we now in trouble? Or is this an opportunity from which to grow and get better as a team?

Are we still in trouble after this loss to Seattle?

We are in better shape now. A little humility goes a long way. I actually feel sorry for the Panthers at this point. And that is saying a LOT.

We're 9-3. We weren't in trouble to begin with.

We got out game planned, they were prepared for everything and adjustments didn't work either. Just find a way to get back up there in the playoffs.
