Middle Linebacker

After watching the game over and over and slowing down the plays as they develop (thanks TIVO!) did anyone notice on every Emmitt Smith run the middle linebacker was no where near the point of attack and on every big gain he was chasing. Watson read prior to any movement instead reacting. He should be blowing up the middle

It always seems to me when I focus on him he frequently drops back into coverage instead of holding ground or moving forward.

Do you think maybe James Allen is so weak in coverage that Venturi has Watson playing too deep?

I\'m pretty certain the problem isn\'t Watson.

Does anyone notice a trend here? LB\'s going into coverage? DE\'s rushing upfield to pressure the QB? A defense that Haslett wants based around speed?

Seems to me that the Saints coaches are so obsessed with stopping the pass, we\'ve made it that much easier for opposing offenses to run all over us. IDIOTS!

It\'s funny how Hazlett has claimed so many times that the pass defense has not been a problem and yet he still keeps getting pass rushers and now brings in a new cornerback.

Watson better smoke some crack to stay awake because another linebacker is coming back next week and he might not be starting again.

Actually, Watson doesn\'t need to worry. James Allen will lose his starting spot.

Hey Cheramie, is it just me, or are you becoming a lot more pessimistic these days? What happened to your 11-5 Superbowl days?

The Saints do that to you - they do that to everyone... except Saintfan.

Haz was a linebacker and still can\'t seem too figure out that our linebacking corps has been the main problem area on defense. (Though I think Watson will end up being a good player and Darrin Smith should have been kept around for leadership AND because he could still play better than a few of our others.)
