Excuses, excuses, excuses.

That’s all anyone ever makes for the New Orleans Saints’ organization. Things were no different on Sunday after they were shellacked 34-10 by the woeful Arizona Cardinals.

Excuses were being made for the Saints even before the game kicked off and that’s because fans have become so accustomed to their hearts being broken by teams they are far more superior to.

I will argue AZ is not the worse team in football... still no reason to take a beating like that.

Call them the New Orleans Excuses

You heard the excuses:
“It’s a tough game, because Arizona is due for a win,
“It’s really hot in Arizona and the Saints are wearing their black jersey’s
“Neither Joe Horn, Donte’ Stallworth or Jerome Pathon practiced this week
Never heard it used as an excuse by anyone yet. Has anyone actually said their the reasons we lost?
Did Haslett actually say any of these things? If he did I missed it.
...and my favorite “This is a trap game.
Uhhh, how can that be an excuse when it was said before the game? Has anyone said we lost because it was a trap game. I remember saying its exactly the kind of game the Saints lose but I don\'t understand how thats an excuse for losing and haven\'t heard anybody use it.
What’s the excuse when you have a quarterback who can’t take a snap from center?
There isn\'t an excuse, he\'s being blamed non-stop. If you didn\'t see the game you swear AB fumbled 47 times.
Or having two offensive tackles that are always in a hurry to block no one?
They are also getting hammered by nearly everyone.

Or receivers that don’t catch the football consistently?
They are being ridiculed and blasted as I write on just about every site I visit.

Or a coaching staff that drafted speedy receivers so that they could stretch the field with receiver screens, five-yard hooks and outs along with three yard drags that aren’t enough for first downs?
Is this an excuse being used or a statement. As far as I\'m concerned it is a serious problem that contributes to us getting our tail kicked weekly. But I don\'t see how correctly blaming the coaching staff for horrible play calling is an excuse for losing. You lost me there bud.
And what about that defense? Have they stopped anyone this season?
No and they are ridiculed endlessly. Is this another excuse or perhaps a problem yet to be solved?

Congratulations guys, you were just routed by the worst team in football and there is no excuse for that.
WTF? What is this guy trying to say?
He\'s listed about everything wrong with this team imaginable.
Our QB sucked, Our WR\'s sucked, Our Run D sucked, our O-line sucked, Our coaching sucked and he claims they are being used as excuses? They sound more like legitimate reasons we lost to a bad team more so than excuses.
I don\'t get it. Has anybody excused this loss?

My own definition of an Excuse: An invalid reason aimed at deflecting attention to the real reason.

I think his point was that the Saints weren\'t making statements like - Sure it\'s hot in Arizona, but it\'s hot in Louisiana too. We\'re not afraid of a little heat.

Or, this is a real chance for us to play up and show what we got against a team that has played some teams tough despite being 0-3.

No, you heard the defeat before the game - it\'s hot there. This is a trap game.

As for the other stuff... well, they may not be excuses, but they seem 100% accurate to me.

Its just silly to argue this wasn\'t a disgrace and ANOTHER ONE at that.
I will agree with you gator, this was worse than when we lost to the Bengals on \'02. This team annihlated us in every aspect of the game. Our offense scored only a measly FG IN THE RED ZONE! And the defense?! I\'ll leave it at that!

Our \"whiz kid\" coordinators were outwitted (no surprise) by Dennis Green and co. and they deserve the loss more than anyone else. Not Brooks, not the receivers, not the O-line, not even the defense. THEY are the reason this team sucks.

The game was a disgrace, and the organization and team should be embarrassed as hell. Arizona was Power Ranked the worst team in the NFL. They showed glimmers of defense, particularly in the RZ. We were not only beaten we were humiliated. Excuses dont matter the fact is the final score and everything that led to that. A disgusting performance to be trounced in this fashion. :icon_bs: :icon_bs: :icon_bs: :icon_bs:

The article summed up my thoughts fairly well. I thought it was accurate.

Had I been there, I most definitely would have had the paper bag on (not for the first time). And I think Cardinals fans are one of the few sets of fans who could actually appreciate it. They\'ve sure it had it rough over the years, so I harbor no grudge against them. I respect them, in fact.

Guys my whole point is
NOBODY IS MAKING EXCUSES FOR THIS LOSS! :casstet:
We played like crap from top to bottom for pretty much the entire game and everyone knows it and admits it.

Somebody show me a quote by anyone that can be deemed an EXCUSE or be considered defending this loss!

\"There is no excuse for this loss\"

Aw come on, thats just an excuse!
