How about the game film that shows PT shaking off a tackler behind the line and breaking two more across the line to turn what should've been a 2-3 yard loss into a 5 yard gain? And he does that, ALL THE TIME. I don't think there is a person here who would not like to see Ingram succeed, but like you said, the game tape doesn't lie; and what the game tape says is that every time Ingram takes the field it means that a more productive player (ie PT or Sproles) is not on the field. It's just that simple. I don't think we should trade Ingram because he is a "bust". I think we should trade Ingram because we have two really good running backs that aren't being used to their full potential because of Ingram's presence. |
Re: There May Be Mark Ingram to Giant Rumors
I always feel like Ingram's legs are moving faster then his brain. He is trying to hit a homerun everytime he gets the ball. All he needs to be concerned with is getting positive yards every play.

Re: There May Be Mark Ingram to Giant Rumors
Mark Ingram is not nearly as good as Pierre and I don't think he ever will be. With that being said, we need the depth at RB.

Re: There May Be Mark Ingram to Giant Rumors
Dont know why PT is more productive than Ingram, but Ingram winning the Heisman was no fluke. Some Saints fans couldn't wait to see Reggie Bush go, and look at him now. I have to belive it really comes down to scheme......that, and PT is really just a special back with great vision and a lot of heart. We really need to fix our O line though. I guess its hard to invest in a good O line when you have a lot of money poured into a contract....
.....I underestimated the importance of having a good head coach around.....maybe Kromer will be missed more than we thought. |
Re: There May Be Mark Ingram to Giant Rumors
The Ingram experiment has failed. Wish I could say differently.

Re: There May Be Mark Ingram to Giant Rumors
Three possibilities with Ingram's game:
One, he's got a tell; either he or someone is doing something to tip off the defenders... Two, he's impatient and making bad reads when approaching the assigned gap... Three, he's done or not done something to not get favor with the Oline... Now, I sincerely doubt the last, but it's worth mentioning; politics on a team is evident in the RB/Oline relationship... Ingram is faster than PT and I've wonder if that's not hurting him as he's running into blocks when they are developing - a timing thing just like a QB with his receivers... Wish we could get cams facing the offense presnap as the play develops, as I think somehow when Ingram is rushing, the defenses reading a 'tell' and are waiting... Think most of it is poor chemistry and Ingram's inability to adjust his gears and timing when hitting the hole - talent is there, execution just isn't... |
Re: There May Be Mark Ingram to Giant Rumors
Interesting point about the tell, Jeanpierre....I can't remember who it was at the moment (it's 6 AM) but there was a running back who used to have one of those chin straps with four snaps on the helmet, and if he was getting the ball on a play, he would buckle all four snaps, but if he was NOT getting the ball on that play he would only buckle two of them, a lot of the time, with the other two straps flopping around loose....defenses somehow figured this out. Not saying that's exactly what Ingram is doing, but stuff like that DOES happen. There were also "tells" or things somewhat like "tells" in the Gregg Williams Powerpoint slides that were released during Bountygate,in his lists of things to defensive players to watch for.

The luxury of having Sean Payton ... He's actually here to fix it
