My my my ... Giants have no running backs ... Send me a pass rusher that contributes and am happy

Re: There May Be Mark Ingram to Giant Rumors

Listen, I've bit my lip for a long time. Mark isn't a bad RB. He's just not a for for our scheme. He's actually a pretty solid back if he gets a lot of carries. He's a workhorse. He gets better over time. But in this scheme that'll never happen. I love mark as a back, I just don't love him for us.

Just consider that before trashing him. He'll be solid for some other team giving him 20+ carries instead of 5-10.

Re: There May Be Mark Ingram to Giant Rumors

I hope these experiments of trying to take a RB who is not a N-S runner and turn him into one are over but I suspect it will continue just like running QB's. He even said this when he was drafted, he's not that kind of RB yet we keep trying to smash him in there. Really getting old. I'm fine with him out of here.

Guys im looking at this film and absolutely no blocking was done for him ... Jed Collins had a horrible day blocking

I agree, I don't think Ingram fits in with the scheme of a Sean Payton team. And I don't think coach is going to change his scheme just to accommodate Ingram.
That said, the front office should have seen this coming BEFORE giving away a couple years of draft picks for this kid.

As for this trade, I think it's great speculation and conversation, but don't expect front office announcing anything tomorrow.

Well in all fairness , this is Ingrams 1st year healthy with SP ... Im sure SP is watching film as we speak and is figuring this out whereas last year we would've let the error grow unchecked

Re: There May Be Mark Ingram to Giant Rumors

We're never going to put him in the kind of role he needs to succeed. I want to love the dude but he needs 20 carries a game and Sean is not going to have PT and Sproles riding the bench.

Get a mid-round pick for him, promote Robinson to the roster and move on.

Pretty hard to run when there's 3 ****ing defenders in the backfield. That whole Ingram to the giants thing was bs and the o-line playing poorly in THE FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON isn't going to make the team run out and trade him.

Re: There May Be Mark Ingram to Giant Rumors

I think Sean Payton can Fix it ... If we get out ahead of the Falcons like we should've the rest would've been running the clock down and wearing down their front as well.

Mark Ingram
Att 9 Yds 11 Avg 1.2

Pierre Thomas
Att 9 Yds 43 Avg 4.8

Also, Thomas had four receptions and Ingram had zero.

So, tell me again how it's the o-line's fault...........

Re: There May Be Mark Ingram to Giant Rumors

^ I see a lot of people say how any time Ingram is in the game, the other team knows its a run and stacks the box.

To some extent I believe that is true, but it is not the factor that a lot of people think. Deuce ran against 8-man boxes his entire career. PT routinely breaks tackles behind the LOS and turns negative plays into 5 and 6 yard runs. Yes, the offensive line is not great run blockers, and yes, we are predictable when Ingram is in there, but at some point you have to go with what works. PT and Sproles work. Ingram does not.

Don't mean to promote another site or whatnot but this just about sums it up...

So, where are the screencaps and analysis on PT's rushes?

I guess the big, mean o-line only blocks for him?

In football there are no opinions only game film and film don't lie bro ... Ingram is far from a bust ... We said the same thing about bush ... Now look at em

How about the game film that shows PT shaking off a tackler behind the line and breaking two more across the line to turn what should've been a 2-3 yard loss into a 5 yard gain? And he does that, ALL THE TIME.

I don't think there is a person here who would not like to see Ingram succeed, but like you said, the game tape doesn't lie; and what the game tape says is that every time Ingram takes the field it means that a more productive player (ie PT or Sproles) is not on the field.

It's just that simple.

I don't think we should trade Ingram because he is a "bust". I think we should trade Ingram because we have two really good running backs that aren't being used to their full potential because of Ingram's presence.

Re: There May Be Mark Ingram to Giant Rumors

I always feel like Ingram's legs are moving faster then his brain. He is trying to hit a homerun everytime he gets the ball. All he needs to be concerned with is getting positive yards every play.

Re: There May Be Mark Ingram to Giant Rumors

Mark Ingram is not nearly as good as Pierre and I don't think he ever will be. With that being said, we need the depth at RB.

Mr.Riaton 09-09-2013 04:46 AM

Re: There May Be Mark Ingram to Giant Rumors

Dont know why PT is more productive than Ingram, but Ingram winning the Heisman was no fluke. Some Saints fans couldn't wait to see Reggie Bush go, and look at him now. I have to belive it really comes down to scheme......that, and PT is really just a special back with great vision and a lot of heart. We really need to fix our O line though. I guess its hard to invest in a good O line when you have a lot of money poured into a contract....

.....I underestimated the importance of having a good head coach around.....maybe Kromer will be missed more than we thought.

The Ingram experiment has failed. Wish I could say differently.

jeanpierre 09-09-2013 06:14 AM

Re: There May Be Mark Ingram to Giant Rumors

Three possibilities with Ingram's game:

One, he's got a tell; either he or someone is doing something to tip off the defenders...

Two, he's impatient and making bad reads when approaching the assigned gap...

Three, he's done or not done something to not get favor with the Oline...

Now, I sincerely doubt the last, but it's worth mentioning; politics on a team is evident in the RB/Oline relationship...

Ingram is faster than PT and I've wonder if that's not hurting him as he's running into blocks when they are developing - a timing thing just like a QB with his receivers...

Wish we could get cams facing the offense presnap as the play develops, as I think somehow when Ingram is rushing, the defenses reading a 'tell' and are waiting...

Think most of it is poor chemistry and Ingram's inability to adjust his gears and timing when hitting the hole - talent is there, execution just isn't...

SaintsBro 09-09-2013 06:28 AM

Re: There May Be Mark Ingram to Giant Rumors

Interesting point about the tell, Jeanpierre....I can't remember who it was at the moment (it's 6 AM) but there was a running back who used to have one of those chin straps with four snaps on the helmet, and if he was getting the ball on a play, he would buckle all four snaps, but if he was NOT getting the ball on that play he would only buckle two of them, a lot of the time, with the other two straps flopping around loose....defenses somehow figured this out. Not saying that's exactly what Ingram is doing, but stuff like that DOES happen. There were also "tells" or things somewhat like "tells" in the Gregg Williams Powerpoint slides that were released during Bountygate,in his lists of things to defensive players to watch for.
